The Principal Coach will provide needed support and mentoring to novice and continuing assistant principals and principals, to increase their effectiveness as leaders. The coach will support assistant principals and principals' development in identified areas including instructional leadership, school culture and climate, performance management and data-informed decision making practices.
MAJOR DUTIES:

+ Assist the school leader in goal setting activities: gather pre-assessment data, set individual development goals and monitor growth through mid-year and end-year progress assessments.
+ Build the school leader's capacity to develop, implement and monitor opportunities for continuous improvement and professional growth.
+ Provide high quality, relevant professional development for new principals through Principal Meetings, Cadres, and other activities.
+ Collaborate with the Human Resources and Instruction & Accountability Division and others to insure the delivery of high-quality, job-embedded, professional learning for district and school administrators.
+ Develop, implement and monitor professional development which creates lasting change in administrator practices by building and/or deepening the knowledge in school leaders on how to actively monitor progress, including direct observation, providing timely actionable feedback and engaging in reflective practices.
+ Assist with the development/selection of and coordination of instructional programs and related services to ensure efficient implementation and creation of a systematic approach to curriculum and instructional planning, development, execution, and evaluation.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

+ Maintain an up to date coaching calendar reflecting scheduled meetings as well as time and attendance records.
+ Demonstrate the highest standards of moral and ethical behavior, flexibility and responsiveness; through a leadership role with colleagues and maintaining norms of confidentiality.
+ Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, creating and delivering presentations.
+ Work on fast-paced, multiple projects of varying complexity with tight deadlines while continually adapting to changing priorities.
+ Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
+ Exhibit dependability, tact and strength in multi-tasking, problem solving and ability to analyze critically.
POSITION TITLE: Principal Coach
QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Possess Arizona Secondary Principal or Provisional Principal Certification.
+ Possess a Master's Degree in education.
+ Have proven experience as a school principal in Phoenix Union High School District
+ Have experience as a secondary school teacher.
+ Have training or experience in the supervision, coaching and evaluation of personnel including administrators, teachers and staff.
+ Have working knowledge of instructional improvements based on current educational research.
+ Experience in student registration procedures, data processing, budget management, business administration, counseling, and student discipline is preferred.
