Position Summary
Counsel students on academic, career, and personal matters for the Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions. Advise current and prospective students regarding matriculation, registration, and goal-setting. Attend recruitment and marketing events. Develop and run reports in PeopleSoft. Lead the New Student Seminar and provide advisement support to several programs according to the needs of the department. Respond to inquiries concerning the School, department, and program offerings.
Qualifications
Required Education:
Bachelor\'s Degree in Psychology, Counseling
Preferred Education:
Master\'s Degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or Student Personnel Administration
Required Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience, including academic advisement, recruitment, admissions, counseling and referrals, or related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Experience:
A background in music or other performing arts discipline.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of New York State higher education laws and policies. Excellent interpersonal, listening, public speaking, and written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work both independently as well as part of a team. Ability to plan and deliver special events and seminars. Ability to use Peoplesoft as a tool to advise students, input program and plan information, track students, and develop and run reports.
Additional Information
In compliance with NYC\'s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $58,500.00 to USD $71,500.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate\'s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
