Nature of Work

This Accounting position is in the sub-recipient monitoring and compliance unit, which reviews all sub-grants as required by DHHR policy, completes all site visits and desk reviews as required by the federal funding sources for sub-recipients, represents the Bureau in all federal site visits and audits for federal grants, and works with DHHR Central Finance in providing information for the state annual audit. This position is expected to review all sub-recipient grants that are awarded by BPH. This unit\'s focus is to ensure sub-grantee compliance with federal, state and DHHR guidelines for grantees to continue to receive funding.

This position may qualify for hybrid remote work and there are many opportunities for advancement! Selected candidates who agree to work for a minimum of twelve (12) months may be eligible to receive a $5000 appointment incentive. This incentive does not apply to current employees of the State of WV.

Alternate postings for Accountant/Auditor 3 and for Accountant/Auditor 1. One vacancy will be filled with one of the three titles.

Minimum Qualifications

Training: Bachelor\'s degree from an accredited college or university with at least 24 semester hours in accounting.

AND

Experience: One (1) year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience in accounting, statutory accounting or auditing work.

OR

Substitutions: (1) Graduate coursework in accounting may substitute at a rate of 15 semester hours for one (1) year of the required experience. (2) Certification or registration as a Public Accountant in West Virginia may be substituted for the training and required experience.

NOTE: At the appointing agency\'s discretion, competitive candidates may receive probationary appointment pending official verification of the qualifying training or certification. The qualifying training or certification must be verified before the employee may be certified permanent.

Other Information

An additional one (1) year of experience in accounting, auditing, bookkeeping, and/or finance may substitute for the required accounting semester hours at the rate of one (1) year of experience for every thirty semester hours.
