Job Description
Position Summary:
Icy Strait Point Culinary Host provides a leadership role as well as interpretation and narration for guests attending the In Alaskas Wildest Kitchen tour. The Culinary Host must be able to fillet both salmon and halibut in front of guests.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct all activities and decisions according to Icy Strait Points guiding principles:
- Provide guests with information about the scenery, wildlife, history, culture and geography.
- Provide excellent customer service to all ISP guests
- Ensure the safety of all guests on tour
- Participate in all required training
- Maintain a current First Aid/CPR certification
- Maintain a current food handlers card
- Maintain a current TAPs card
- Other duties as assigned
- Ability to develop recipes using fresh and canned salmon and halibut
- Adequate knowledge or willingness to learn about the Tlingit culture
- Knowledge of the local area (marine life, plants, animals and birds)
- Must have good customer service skills
- Must have good verbal communication and presentation skills
- Ability to learn, retain and present excursion information in an accurate manner
- Promote other ISP venues, distribute ISP literature and/or sell ISP merchandise
