POSITION TITLE: Activities Associate/Aide

REPORTS TO: Activities Director

DEPARTMENT: Activities

The primary responsibility of your job position is to assist the Activities Director in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Activities Department following the current local, state, and federal, guidelines and regulations that govern long term care and assisted living facilities. You are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrate a passion for caring as evidenced by interaction with residents, families, co-workers, and visitors;

Assist in developing, maintaining, evaluating, and directing the developed activity programs;

Participate in community planning related to the interests of the facility and the needs of the residents and their families;

Coordinate activities with other departments as necessary;

Observe resident attendance, mood, behavior, and degree of involvement during activities and other events;

Involve residents and family in planning activities when necessary;

Assist in arranging transportation for activities when necessary;

Follow resident care plans to coordinate their preferences of daily activities;

Perform administrative requirements; such as, completing necessary forms, reports, etc.;

Assist residents in a therapeutic one on one environment.

Serve on, participate in, and attend various committees of the facility as necessary;

Recommend to the Activity Director the equipment and supply needs of the activity department;

Coordinate with the Activity Director thoughts and suggestions on resident activities;

Coordinate with the volunteer group for planned activities;

Make routine visits to residents and perform assistance with crafts, projects, visiting with, writing letters, etc. as necessary

Drives company vehicles for resident outings, appointments, etc, as needed and accompany residents on trips outside of the internal community;

Perform any other duties as assigned by the Activities Director or other administrative staff.

Google and Microsoft operating system platforms.

Administrative and clerical procedures;

Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or its equivalent.

On-the-job training provided.

CNA License \xe2\x80\x93 CPR Certified

JOB TRAINING:

Training can take up to 3 months when the incumbent has the minimum knowledge, skills, abilities, work experience and/or education.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Works in all areas of the facility.

Moves intermittently during working hours.

May be subject to frequent interruptions.

May be involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under a variety of conditions and circumstances.

May be subject to emotionally upset residents, family members, etc.

Communicates with the maintenance personnel, nursing staff, and other department supervisors as necessary.

When necessary, may work beyond normal duty hours.

May be subject to call back during emergency conditions. (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.)

May be exposed to odors, disinfectants, and other air contaminants.

May be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.

May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally challenged, and at times, hostile people within the facility.

Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which includes a mental and physical examination.

Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.

Must be able to push, pull, move, and /or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.

May be necessary to assist in the safe evacuation of residents during emergency situations.

OTHER:

Must maintain a valid, unrestricted Wyoming driver\xe2\x80\x99s license.
