If so, please read on!Marion County Health and Human Services is seeking a recovery mentor to join our treatment team at the Psychiatric Crisis Center. This position provides person centered, recovery-oriented substance use disorder mentor services in both the community and clinic settings to individuals enrolled in our diversion programs.GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Assist and support persons served in county addiction treatment programs in accessing community health and social services; refer persons served to appropriate resources; advocate to obtain required services as necessary; provide information and education on wellness-related issues.SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Work under the general direction of a clinical supervisor or designee who assigns work, establishes goals and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness.SUPERVISION EXERCISED Supervision and lead work are not responsibilities of this classification. If an appointing authority assigns an employee to a full spectrum of lead worker duties, the county shall compensate the employee as described in the Marion County Personnel Rules.Typical Duties - Duties include, but are not limited to the following

  • Screen potential clients, ensure eligibility and perform intakes; provide treatment planning and case management of clients over contract period; assist with referrals to eligible services; effectively communicate agency policy, mission, values, and decisions to program participants.
  • Provide engagement services. Provide direct mentoring and support services in individual as well as group settings. Work independently within given guidelines, demonstrate flexibility to best serve client needs; effectively engage clients in problem solving towards mutually agreed upon goals. Facilitate individual and group-counseling services in the areas of specialty groups, outside of traditional treatment group focuses/settings as well as traditional treatment focuses/settings. Conduct drug and alcohol testing to include breathalyzer, urine testing, and oral testing. Assess and develop levels of care for placement during the intake process under the direction of the facilities clinical supervisor as deemed necessary.
  • Meet, network and establish professional working relationships with community partners, resources and other identified services and supports. Share mission and values with collaborating organizations, and the community; participate fully as a member of the Marion County Adult Alcohol and Drug Treatment team as a supportive, reliable, positive, and professional team member while working effectively with alcohol and drug treatment providers, crisis workers, families, DHS/Child Welfare, corrections, and others involved to provide a healthy and supportive recovery-based environment.
  • Ensure compliance with agency and funder documentation; meet performance standards and deadlines set forth by the county program and partnering agencies regarding quantity, timeliness, and quality of work; maintain clinical records in accordance with federal, state, county health, and program requirements under the direction of the facility's clinical supervisor.

Response Level 2: In the event of an emergency, employee makes a reasonable effort to report to work. Employee may be required to perform duties outside of their regularly assigned duties. Employee may be requested to work an extended or flexible schedule. Staff at this response level must complete Incident Command System 100 and 700 on-line or in-person training.Requirements for the PositionEXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
  • High School diploma, or equivalent; AND
  • Two (2) years in recovery from substance use dependence.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must possess or obtain within ninety (90) days of hire, a current MHACBO (Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon) CRM certification (Certified Recovery Mentor).
Must possess a current driver's license in the applicant's state of residence and an acceptable driving history. Marion County will obtain a copy of the driving record for all qualified applicants from Driver and Motor Vehicle Services and review the driving record according to the Marion County policy and procedure for Driving on County Business.   • Typical Work Schedule(s): Sunday - Wednesday 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. with flexibility depending upon the needs of the department and program.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge and understanding of general concepts of substance use disorders and mental health issues of persons served dealing with addictions; knowledge of family dynamics and individual and group counseling principles; knowledge of community resources.Skills and abilities to understand and carry out directions and instructions; maintain confidentiality; interest and skill in providing services to persons with addiction disorders; read and write English; must be willing to work hours conducive to reaching the identified population; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with persons served, coworkers, and other agencies.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Operates a motor vehicle; sees using depth perception; stands; sits; moves about the work area; climbs 1 floor of stairs; lifts up to 15 lbs.; pushes, pulls and carries up to 10 lbs.; moves carts weighing up to 10 lbs.; operates a keyboard; speaks with a clear and audible voice; reads a 12-pt. font; hears a normal level of speech; may work in areas exposed to heat, cold, dust, noise, and chemicals; works in areas that may be wet or uneven.PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS
