REPORTS TO: Financial Aid ManagerWORK SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday 8:30pm - 5:00pmCOMPENSATION: $31.51/hour + DOE + Benefits, Non-Exempt PositionCLOSING DATE: Until FilledI\xe1\xb8\xb7isa\xc4\xa1vik College is rooted in the ancestral homeland of the I\xc3\xb1upiat. The I\xc3\xb1upiaq way of life is woven into our curriculum, programs, activities, and daily interactions within I\xe1\xb8\xb7isa\xc4\xa1vik College and our community partners.SUMMARY OF POSITION:The Administrative Assistant to Financial Aid performs a variety of administrative tasks including general administrative support to federal aid, scholarship programs, and financial aid services.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality with records and information.
  • Provides financial aid assistance, including contact with students and potential students (in person, by phone or email).
  • Schedules appointments, meetings and prepares travel authorizations for financial aid office.
  • Displays appropriate phone etiquette and customer services skills.
  • Facilitate communications between students, financial aid officer, and other departments as needed.
  • Processes supply orders for financial aid (books, furniture, office supplies, etc).
  • Reviews mail and correspondence into and out of department.
  • Prepares correspondence, marketing requests, and reports as assigned.
  • Provides administrative support to data collection for various reports.
  • Complies with College policies, procedures and administrative directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated PC skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
  • Knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Empower.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated stable employment history.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: post-secondary educational systems, North Slope Borough [NSB] institutions and organizations; I\xc3\xb1upiat culture, language, values, and traditions.
  • Ability to interpret and represent North Slope community values, customs, and beliefs for the College.
  • Ability to interpret and represent College actions and western institutions to the North Slope community.
  • Ability to support I\xe1\xb8\xb7isa\xc4\xa1vik College\xe2\x80\x99s mission.
EDUCATION//CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Required]:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated administrative work experience.
  • Minimum one-year experience in customer service.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Preferred]:
  • Associate\xe2\x80\x99s degree or equivalent.
  • Valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license.
