Job Summary:
The Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA), Division of Business and Finance (DBF) is seeking a highly experienced and skilled ADOA Controller to lead its accounting operations. This critical role is responsible for maintaining and administering all accounting, cash handling, and payroll reporting policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), the State of Arizona Accounting Manual (SAAM), and all applicable state and federal laws and agency policies. The Controller will oversee a team of accounting and financial professionals, managing the department's accounting section and its responsibility for over $1 billion in appropriated and non-appropriated expenditures from various funding sources. This includes accurately tracking and controlling millions of dollars in state property, buildings, and equipment, as well as managing federal and state grants and interagency service agreements. The Controller will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including reconciliations for the Statewide Federal group and the annual closing package for the statewide Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). Furthermore, the Controller will work closely with internal service fund program managers to prevent over-recovery of funds and ensure accurate and timely vendor payments. This position demands a strong leader with extensive experience in financial management and a deep understanding of governmental accounting practices.

Job Duties:
Develop and administer accounting policies and procedures for agency. Ensures that the Department is in compliance with all established policies and procedures
Directs work of professional and non professional staff in providing comprehensive accounting services for the Department's appropriated and non appropriated fund sources
Conducts and attends meetings and participates in activities of committees, task forces, and other administrative groups for strategic planning and process improvement
Actively participate in problem solving issues raised by staff, the Department's divisions, or management
Establish goals, objectives and performance standards for the Departments accounting staff
