Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Anesthetist) Duties:

Provide professional medical services or direct patient care services, appropriate and timely medical services in accordance with the standards of care established by recognized medical care organizations and in accordance with the policies and procedures of Service Unit\'s Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules & Regulations at Shiprock hospital.

Provide professional anesthetic services in direct patient care services as follows:

The APN, Nurse Anesthetist shall provide anesthetic care for patients at the Indian Health Service, Northern Nava1O Medical Center. Shiprock, New Mexico.

Provide anesthetic services for the operating room surgical cases patients and in other situations if the need arises. Such cases may include but are not limited to emergencies or procedures in places and may take place in any area of the facility.

Consult with members of the surgical and anesthesia staff on matters of patient care.

Ensure that patients are receiving the proper anesthetic care.

Review clinical records and adhere to records documentation procedures to insure that records are properly maintained.

Shall be under the administrative supervision of the Chief of Anesthesia or his designee. The contractor\'s provision of anesthetic care will be monitored by the Northern Navajo Medical Center\'s quality assurance plan.

Use the Electronic Health Record. All documentation on patients shall be completed prior to the contractor\'s shift is over. Delinquent charts shall be completed prior to the contractor completion of his/her contract at Northern Navajo Medical Center. If the delinquent chart Is not completed the contract company shall assume the responsibility of returning to Northern Navajo Medical Center to complete any outstanding delinquent charts.

May be subject to technical direction and/or guidance of the designated Government official.

Work Schedule:

Day Shift Monday through Friday 0700-1530 on non-holidays.

Language Requirements and Cultural Awareness. Shall read, understand, speak, and write English to effectively communicate with patients and other health care workers, and shall be respectful of the local, American Indian and Alaska Native culture.

Information Technology Skills. Shall possess basic knowledge, skills, and abilities to use a computer.

Orientation AII Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners providing service shall attend mandatory orientations and training specified by the government.

Background Checks: As directed by the Contracting Officer, shall provide all requested information necessary to perform Level I and Level II background checks. Must be willing and able to pass Federal Security Clearance.

To meet the credentialing standards within the Indian Health Services all contractors presented for services must meet the following

  • Have a full and unrestricted licenses in all states in which licenses are held
  • Have NEVER been the subject of adverse Medical Staff Action (censure, revocation of privileges)
  • Have no criminal arrests or convictions
  • Have never been censured by a medical board for opioid use or misuse or sexual misconduct.
  • Have never been terminated early from a Locums Assignment due to behavior or quality of care concerns.

Must have 57 weeks of Certificate Registered Nurse Anesthetist experience.

License/Registration. All Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Anesthetist) shall possess a current, valid, unrestricted license in any state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or Territory of the United States.

Certifications - all listed below are Mandatory: Basic Life Support (BLS),Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support {PALS), and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)

If hired must be willing to submit the following documentations:

Health Requirements/Conditions of Employment: Medical Evaluation.

Shall provide a fitness for duty certificate issued by a licensed physician to perform the proposed job without significant risk to personal health or the health and safety of others.

Immunization
  • Immunity Lo Rubella, Mumps, Measles
  • Immunity to Hepatitis \xc2\xa33 series
  • History of chicken pox (varicella) disease or positive titer
  • Tetanus Diphtheria (Td) within the last 5 years
  • Documentation of receiving a TB Mantoux skin test (PPD) within the past 12 months with documentation of follow-up for a positive test.
  • A signed declination or the Hepatitis [3 vaccination series shall be accepted.
  • Flu vaccination is REQUIRED.
  • Vaccination against SARS-COV-2, the virus that causes COVID 19
