Job Description


Responsibilities

Under the supervision of clinical mentors, the APP Fellow is a limited term position (minimum of 12 months) that will consist of precepted clinical practice, didactic teaching, and simulation skills training. The Fellow will provide direct care and assume increasing responsibility for clinical management of patients in ambulatory or inpatient settings. In precepted practice, the Fellow will learn to obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and develop treatment plans. The Fellow will participate in case management and continuing care. The Fellow will learn to collaborate, refer, and consult with department attending physicians, specialists, and other members of the health care team to deliver effective, efficient, safe, and high quality care. The Fellow will be exposed to the APP role in contributing to organizational and departmental continuous performance and quality improvement projects. The Fellow will participate in education and research efforts for patients, families, and the health care team.

Requirements

Fellow-Nurse Practitioner
- Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree or higher in nursing with a concentration in a pediatric or family nurse practitioner program.

-One year work experience in a pediatric or family focused clinical area.
-Acute care pediatric nursing experience strongly preferred.
- Active, unencumbered registered nurse and advanced registered nurse practitioner licensure in the State of Washington.
- Current national certification as a pediatric or family nurse practitioner.
- Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Active clinical privileges as an Allied Health Provider, Seattle Children\xe2\x80\x99s Hospital.
- Prior to start of employment, must obtain, and maintain in good standing, medical or allied health professional staff privileges that are not limited, revoked, suspended, conditioned, or probationary, except for normal probationary periods due to initial appointment. All medical and allied health professional staff members are provisional for the first year.
- Any and all medical or allied health professional staff privileges at Children\'s will terminate automatically upon the termination of the individual\'s employment at Children\'s. Termination of employment does not prohibit the individual from seeking medical or allied health professional staff privileges at Children\xe2\x80\x99s as a non-employee in any category for which the individual qualifies. Questions regarding medical or allied health professional staff privileges may be directed to Medical Staff Services.

Fellow - Physician Assistant
- Graduate of a nationally accredited physician assistant program.
- 1 year work experience in a health care role, preferably with a strong pediatric component..
- Active, unencumbered Physician Assistant licensure in the State of Washington.
- Initial certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration.
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Active clinical privileges as an Allied Health Provider, Seattle Children\xe2\x80\x99s Hospital.
- Prior to start of employment, must obtain, and maintain in good standing, medical or allied health professional staff privileges that are not limited, revoked, suspended, conditioned, or probationary, except for normal probationary periods due to initial appointment. All medical and allied health professional staff members are provisional for the first year.
- Any and all medical or allied health professional staff privileges at Children\'s will terminate automatically upon the termination of the individual\'s employment at Children\'s; for this term limited position, the Fellow\xe2\x80\x99s privileges will terminate with the pre-determined end of the position, as noted in the offer letter from Human Resources. If a permanent position is offered and accepted, the application for privileges will be processed as a reappointment to the medical staff.

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
