The Opportunity

The GLAAD Advertising Visibility Intern will work with GLAAD\xe2\x80\x99s Director of Agencies, Brands, and Engagement to increase the quality, quantity, and diversity of LGBTQ representation in advertising and short-form content. Key projects during this internship include the development of the second Advertising Visibility Report, developing a training Curriculum, and supporting brand partnerships.

Candidate Profile | Competencies | Personal Qualities

Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating program infrastructure and communication strategies, including blogs and emails.
  • Provide strategic feedback to corporate Visibility Project and GLAAD Media Institute partners.
  • Identify inclusive advertising examples and company prospects for outreach.
  • Support the development of training Curriculum and ongoing brand guidelines.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
  • This is a remote role, but if located in NYC, it will be hybrid and may, at times, function out of the NYC office location.
  • Six mandatory workshop sessions will be scheduled during the 12 weeks. Interns must attend these events. If they cannot participate, they should connect with their managers.
Qualifications
  • Start Date: September 25th, End Date: December 11th
  • Availability to work up to 30 hours a week
  • Familiarity with issues impacting the LGBTQ community, including racial and social justice
  • Experience in account management, marketing, media strategy, and/or corporate communications
  • Ability to think creatively and manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Professional demeanor
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight turnaround

Education
  • The ideal candidate is anyone interested in working with us, a recent graduate, or an undergraduate/graduate student in advertising, journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, digital media, or other related fields.
