Position Summary
Under the direction of the Vice President, Government & Community Affairs, the Advocacy & Government Affairs Manager (AGAM) provides leadership for the organization\'s advocacy and government affairs work. The AGAM works internally to demonstrate the importance of advocacy while creating a culture of advocacy within TrueCare. The AGAM also works with those external to the organization, whether patients, elected officials, community leaders, or members, to ensure support for policies that align with the TrueCare mission and in opposition to policies or legislation that hamper the organization\'s ability to thrive or are detrimental to our patients and community. While the AGAM is a key advocate for TrueCare and our patients, they also identify and train others within the organization to speak on behalf of the organization and work to position them as thought leaders and TrueCare as a trusted community asset. The AGAM leverages membership in industry groups to build relationships across sectors and goodwill for TrueCare. The AGAM has close relationships with elected officials and their staff, focused on jurisdictions where TrueCare maintains physical locations.
Duties
Create an annual work plan based on the organization\'s Strategic Plan and the SAP, implementing processes and strategies that support both and in consideration of the changing healthcare and political landscape.
Participate in the development and execution of the organization\'s Strategic Advocacy Plan (SAP).
Collaborate with the VPGCA to create an annual work plan based on the organization\'s Strategic Plan and the SAP, implementing processes and strategies that support both and in consideration of the changing healthcare and political landscape.
Collaborate across departments and audiences to build a culture of advocacy within TrueCare, leveraging opportunities for engagement.
Support and drive TrueCare to reach advocacy goals by continually assessing barriers and opportunities to change strategies and ensuring bipartisan public support and political will among electeds.
Identify and steward key advocates within and outside the organization that can be deployed toward maximum impact.
In collaboration with the VPGCA, build and manage relationships with elected officials and their staff from all political parties and at all levels of government with particular emphasis on district staff, educating them on the exemplary work of our organization, the issues most important to our patients, changes in the healthcare landscape, and the areas where we need their support and leadership.
Stay up-to-date and track developments that could have implications for Advocacy & Government Affairs (AGA) work and the organization more broadly. Elevate issues to leadership.
Work diligently with public health officials, policymakers, government officials, regulators, and community leaders to ensure the health of our patients and the viability and success of our organization.
Lead AGA collaboration with MarCom to promote the work of TrueCare as well as issue calls to action to our broader advocacy network.
Work to leverage TrueCare\'s memberships in business and industry groups such as local Chambers of Commerce.
Collaborate with local, state, and national associations to provide TrueCare\'s point of view in decision-making and to amplify aligned messages.
Requirements
Bachelor\'s degree in political science, business administration, or related field and/or related work experience.
Basic understanding of the US and State of California legislative process.
Persuasive solid speaking and writing skills.
Computer proficiency with web applications and Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Desired
Working experience in elected officials\' office
Working experience with individual, statutory or systems advocacy within a healthcare setting.
Experience in healthcare systems, particularly working with or for a (FQHC) Federally Qualified Heath Centers.
Master\'s degree.
Licenses:
Valid California Driver\'s License
Will be required to travel between all TrueCare sites and locations therefore a California Driver\'s License, proof of valid insurance and clean driving record required.

Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role.
