THIS IS A NEW ASSEMBLED EXAMINATION. The eligible list resulting from this examination will cancel any existing list and may last approximately one year but can be extended.

SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONNAIRE: A properly completed Supplemental Questionnaire must be submitted with each application. Failure to submit the Application or Supplemental Questionnaire will result in disqualification.

THE AGENCY

THE POSITION

Under supervision, performs various program functions which do not require a license within the Agriculture/Weights and Measures Department such as inspection of possible host plants for various pests in a continuous residential survey, application of pesticides for control or eradication of pests, assistance in the vertebrate pest and weed control programs, assistance with various consumer protection inspections, and performance of related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Either I

The equivalent of six months\' full-time experience as an Agricultural and Standards Aide in the Alameda County classified service. (Non-classified includes District Attorney\'s Office, Hospital Authority, and the Consolidated Courts.)

Or II

The equivalent of one-year full-time experience in a private or public agency in agricultural pest prevention work, weighing or measuring device inspection and repair, or other related work.

Or III

Education:

Possession of an Associate of Arts degree or higher from an accredited college or university in biological or physical science.

License:

Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator\'s license.

NOTE: The Civil Service Commission may modify the above Minimum Qualifications in the announcement of an examination.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

The most suitably qualified candidates will possess the following competencies:

Knowledge of:

• Insect identification.

• Plant and tree identification.

• Use of pesticides.

• Use of vertebrate baits.

• Record-keeping systems.

• Rodent biology and behavior.

• Basic scale and meter operations.

Ability to:

• Operate manual and power operated equipment.

• Make simple adjustments and repairs of equipment.

• Create, read and utilize simple diagrams and maps effectively.

• Work independently with minimum or remote supervision.

• Read and follow instructions.

• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

• Interact effectively with County employees and members of the public.

• Solve basic mathematical problems.

EXAMINATION COMPONENTS

The examination will consist of the following steps: * A review of the candidates\' application to verify possession of minimum requirements. Those candidates who possess the minimum requirements for the class will move on to the next step in the examination process.

• A review of candidates\' supplemental questionnaire to select the best qualified applicants to continue in the process.
• An oral interview which will be weighted as 100% of the candidates\' final examination score. The oral interview may contain situational exercises.

CANDIDATES MUST ATTAIN A QUALIFYING RATING ON EACH PORTION OF THIS EXAMINATION.
