YOUR TASKS AND RESONSIBILITIES

As a Agronomic Research Specialist II (ARS II) you will be responsible for working with an internal team of Plant Breeding Breeders, Research Scientists, and Field Operations to design, execute and oversee the North America Plant Breeding Row Crop Research & Development efforts around cotton, corn and wheat. You will be responsible for the continuous improvement and strategic initiative projects that transform the way plant breeding research is conducted within the organization and will have to opportunity to use innovative equipment technologies, data analytics, and program management design. You\'ll be executing protocols and working closely with product development scientists, biotechnology team members and field solutions team members to determine which new ideas will be progressing through our R&D pipeline and will ultimately end up in our future products or chemistries. In addition to testing and data work, you will also have to opportunity to work directly in the field operating cutting edge equipment like planters, harvesters and UAVs. For this role, you will work onsite at and around our Lubbock breeding facility and report to the Lubbock Operations Lead.

The primary responsibilities of this role, Agronomic Research Specialist II, are to:

  • Execute projects and initiatives through teamwork and influencing of partners and stakeholders at the Lubbock TX North America Field Testing Organization (NAFTO) site;
  • Network across multiple internal organizations and stake holders to ensure trial success;
  • Become a subject matter expert within your product and testing area;
  • Provide innovative solutions and technical abilities to challenge the status quo as related to trials, testing process and protocols;
  • Plan/direct/coordinate activities of others and mentor other junior ARS peers;
  • Execute field testing trials through operation of equipment such as planters, harvesters and UAVs;
  • Be accountable for business unit or project results through leadership and coordination across site;
  • Execute strategy, prioritize tasks and monitor projects to ensure completion within deadlines and budgets;
  • Build partnerships and shares technical knowledge across sites, involved in industry working groups.

REQUIRED QUALIFICIATONS :
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Agronomy, Life Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science or a related field;
  • Experience and/or education in Agronomic research or production;
  • Basic understanding and passion for emerging trends in agriculture;
  • Capable of pulling, analyzing, and maintaining large data sets;
  • Expertise with both standard MS Office computer and software systems and the ability to quickly learn new proprietary software programs and tools;
  • Valid driver\'s license (you will be driving company trucks and various agriculture equipment in this role);
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs;
  • Ability to obtain pesticide applicator license;
  • Ability to obtain UAV license (desired) for operating drones;
  • Ability to work extended hours during peak operational seasons.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge and experience with agricultural equipment and row crop production practices with a history of leveraging that knowledge in a research environment;
  • Bachelor\'s degree in a related field with at least 2 years relevant experience OR Master\'s Degree in related field with 1 year experience (experience includes previous employment, internships, coops and/or academic experience);
  • Possess a CDL license or have ability to obtain one;
  • Capable of utilizing multiple analytics platforms to articulate observations and areas in need of improvement;
  • Experience with seed technology industry or plant breeding;
  • Expertise with precision agriculture hardware and software.
