The immediate vacancies are with the Department of Transportation, Airports Division at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport and with the University of Hawaii, John A. Burns School of Medicine in Downtown.

• The immediate vacancy requires applicants to possess a current EPA certification as a Type I ,Type II and Type III or Universal Technician.

Duties Summary

Independently performs skilled preventive maintenance work in operating, maintaining, repairing, and overhauling a variety of air conditioning, refrigeration and ventilation systems and equipment and performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

Experience:FOUR (4) YEARS of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance and overhaul of air conditioning and/or refrigeration equipment as a helper or apprentice under a journey level air conditioning and/or refrigeration mechanic.

Substitutions Allowed: Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements, will apply.

Certification Required: In accordance with Section 608 of the Environmental Protection Agency\'s (EPA) Clean Air Act, 1990, as amended, certification as a Type I, Type II, Type III, or Universal Technician is required. NOTE: If a copy of your certificate is not submitted at the time of application, your application will be rejected.

Driver\'s License: Some positions require possession of a valid driver\'s license at the time of appointment. The immediate vacancies have this requirement.

Physical Requirements: Some positions require the ability to lift and carry loads of various weights assisted and/or unassisted, with or without reasonable accommodation. The DOT Airport position requires the ability to lift/carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds assisted by another person and/or use of equipment (e.g., hoisting equipment, hand truck).

Federal Criminal History Records Check: In accordance with Federal regulations, persons who are being considered for employment in positions which require unescorted access to secured areas at the airport, must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint-based criminal history record check. In order to be granted the Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance, prospective employees must not have been convicted, or found "not guilty by reason of insanity," of a disqualifying criminal offense within 10 years from the date of the application. Upon recommendation for hire, prospective employees will be required to successfully undergo the fingerprint-based criminal history record check and be found free of disqualifying convictions during the preceding ten years. The cost for the records check will be the applicant\'s responsibility.
