Duties Summary
This position serves as the Administrator of the Airports Division and is responsible for the overall administration, management, operation, safety, security, acquisition, development, construction, financing, and maintenance of all State airports and aviation facilities and properties under the control of the Department of Transportation\'s Airports Division; coordinates and plans for the development and improvement of aeronautics and aeronautical facilities and for the protection and promotion of safety and security in aeronautics; and directs the planning, construction and use of airport and aviation facilities in the public interest.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
To qualify, you must meet ALL of the following requirements:
Education/Experience Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor\'s degree.
Excess work experience as described under Experience Requirements, below, or any other responsible administrative, professional or analytical work experience that provided knowledge, skills and abilities comparable to those acquired in four (4) years of successful study while completing a college or university curriculum leading to a baccalaureate degree may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. To be acceptable, the experience must have been of such scope, level and quality as to assure the possession of comparable knowledge, skills and abilities.
The basic education or experience background must also demonstrate the ability to write clear and comprehensive reports and other documents; read and interpret complex written material; and solve complex problems logically and systematically.
Experience Requirements:
General Experience: Four (4) years of professional, administrative, analytical or other responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to deal effectively with fellow workers, business contacts and/or the general public, and to recognize, analyze and resolve management and operational problems.
Administrative Experience: Three (3) years of administrative work which included active participation in and major responsibility for: policy formulation and implementation; budget preparation and execution; and planning, developing, directing and managing airport operations and/or facilities.
Substitutions Allowed:
A. A master\'s degree from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one (1) year of the General Experience.
B. Excess Administrative Experience may be substituted for General Experience on a year-for-year basis.
Federal Criminal History Records Check: In accordance with Federal regulations, persons who are being considered for employment in positions which require unescorted access to secured areas at the airport, must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint-based criminal history record check. In order to be granted the Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance, prospective employees must not have been convicted, or found "not guilty by reason of insanity," of a disqualifying criminal offense within 10 years from the date of the application. Upon recommendation for hire, prospective employees will be required to successfully undergo the fingerprint-based criminal history record check and be found free of disqualifying convictions during the preceding ten years. The cost for the records check will be the applicant\'s responsibility.
