We are looking to hire an AML Sanctions Advisor Senior within PNC\'s BSA/AML and Sanction Compliance organization.

This position is in office with flexibility based out of Pittsburgh, PA.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Challenge & Advisory Support: Conduct effective challenge and advisory support to Corporate & Institutional Banking 1st Line of Defense (1LOD) in accordance with PNC\xe2\x80\x99s Operational Risk framework, focusing on quality risk-informed guidance. Applies to new business initiatives/Change Methodology Framework, Risk & Control Self Assessments, quarterly LOB Prime Process reviews, issues management, annual Risk Appetite review, etc.
  • Risk Assessments: Participate in department\xe2\x80\x99s AML Risk Assessment process, assuming responsibility for thorough and timely completion of business segment and/or product risk assessments as assigned; Identify AML & sanctions risks and assess the adequacy of the LOB\xe2\x80\x99s policies, processes, systems and controls for managing those risks.
  • Issues Management: Contribute to AML Risk\xe2\x80\x99s participation in PNC\xe2\x80\x99s issues management processes; Provide 2LOD oversight of management AML & sanctions-related issues within C&IB, including identification of issues, challenge and validation of management responses & closure requests, and providing 2LOD advisory support to the 1LOD as necessary. Issues management also includes ownership of and/or participation in remediation of issues owned by AML Risk that result from internal audits and regulatory exams/reviews.
  • Exam & Audit Support: Participate in regulatory examination and internal audit meetings as required; Support regulatory and audit initial and follow-up requests for information during the course of exams/audits.
  • Liaison with Business Partners: Maintain effective relationships with LOB contacts in the 1LOD, AML Risk and Independent Risk Management colleagues in 2LOD, and Internal Audit partners in 3LOD; Attend recurring and ad hoc meetings with business partners as required. Also maintain strong relationship with the AML Legal team and other Shared Services partners.
  • Maintain Knowledge of Strategies, Policies & Laws/Regulations: Maintain knowledge of C&IB business strategy, AML Risk strategy, applicable LOB and PNC Enterprise policies & procedures, and BSA/AML & sanctions laws and regulations in order to provide expected challenge and advisory support as needed.
  • Customer Focus: Demonstrate an understanding of how AML Risk\xe2\x80\x99s work affects the end-to-end customer experience, recognizing that 2LOD\xe2\x80\x99s customers can be both our 1LOD/LOB business partners and the actual customers of C&IB; Provide clear, consistent and timely communication to internal customers and business partners.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree preferred; substantial years of compliance or regulatory experience with proven ability would be considered
  • 5-8 years progressive compliance or regulatory experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of BSA/AML compliance and related banking regulations
  • CAMS certification highly preferred; consideration will be given to similar financial crimes certifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial services industry and banking products utilized by corporate & institutional customers (i.e., treasury management products, credit facilities, etc.)
  • Sound business judgment, leadership and ethical standards
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with all levels of management

  • Oversees, establishes and enhances effective enterprise wide and/or business unit AML and Sanctions programs and designs policies to prevent or identify illegal, unethical, or improper business practices. May lead or oversee direct or indirect execution of activities to comply with the Bank Secrecy Act, AML, USA PATRIOT ACT and Sanctions Program. Constructively challenges conclusions/status quo. Exhibits confidence and credibility with service partners, business leaders, customers, regulators, and auditors.
  • Oversees the update of Compliance policies and procedures as needed. Ensures Compliance Manuals, Front Office Manuals, policies and procedures accurately reflect current laws, rules, other regulatory requirements and management intent. Oversees regulatory examinations and inquiries, including the coordination of interviews and information requests from regulatory agencies. Independently challenges analyses, reviews and recommendations.
  • Identifies and oversees the definition of the enterprise wide and/or business unit AML and Sanctions program objectives for assigned line(s) of business, products/services and operational execution areas that may execute program components to comply with the Bank Secrecy Act, AML, USA PATRIOT ACT and Sanctions Program. Serves as a senior AML and Sanctions subject matter specialist regarding impact on Program design and execution. Communicate and socialize those objectives (from a leadership position) to the business or operational execution points. May lead AML and Sanctions Program monitoring reviews.
  • Reviews AML and Sanctions compliance reports and related customer risk profiles. Identifies issues, escalates through proper governance channels as needed, and recommends corrective action plans. Directs the review and analysis of assessments of AML and Sanctions risk and internal controls, as appropriate. Analyzes regulatory developments, advises business management of proposed rule changes and provide recommendations. Oversees the updating or implementation of new/enhanced processes in order to ensure timely and effective compliance with new regulatory requirements.
  • Support key business initiatives by identifying AML and Sanctions risks and providing resolutions to manage these risks. Provides advice and may participate as a subject matter specialists in developing and/or conducting AML and Sanctions training programs for specific employees. Serves as a senior AML and Sanctions Program subject matter resource regarding compliance impact on overall business activities, product development and customer activities. Works cooperatively with the business, legal partners, audit and other risk disciplines across the organization.

Work Experience

Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree. Higher level education such as a Masters degree, PhD, or certifications is desirable. Industry relevant experience is typically 8+ years. Specific certifications are often required. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education and experience (including military service) may be considered.
