At ZEISS, the applications engineer provides a dynamic array of metrology and quality solutions for our customers. Their time is divided between supporting quality initiatives, metrology \xe2\x80\x93 working with coordinate measurement machines with a variety of sensors as well as statistical analysis. This support is provided in a variety of ways, including formal and custom training classes, telephone and on-site support, programming and measurement services.

Experience and Education Requirements:

• A four-year degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or related degree is required.
• 1-3 years work experience is preferred
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings for dimensional control requirements.
• Understanding of 3D mathematics and computer programming techniques in any of the modern scientific computer languages
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable presenting technical information to small or large audiences
• Ability to clearly describe a problem statement and create concise technical report of the solution.
• Ability to interact effectively with our customers face to face or over the phone
• Ability to perform in a Teaching/Trainer related capacity as necessary during product demonstrations or customer training classes, and relate the benefits of our products to problem solutions for customers
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently from problem statement to solution
• Ability to learn independently to find solutions to potential customer measurement problems
• Willing to travel approximately 50% to 75% of the time
