Departmental Overview
The College of Environmental Design (CED) operates four academic departments, conferring both undergraduate and graduate degrees in each: Architecture, City and Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning, and the Institute for Urban and Regional Development. CED has 55 full-time and 45 part-time teaching faculty, 50 career staff, and over 1,200 students. The operations of the College are financed with state funds, gifts and endowments, and other revenue sources.
The Infrastructure and Information Technology (IIT) team in the College of Environmental Design (CED) is seeking an experienced Applications Programmer to research, design, develop, write, modify, test, debug, troubleshoot, and maintain desktop / web applications, as well as connected databases and integrations with other systems, processes, or content.

Responsibilities
25% Play an active role on the team that will upgrade an existing Microsoft Access / SQL application and migrate it to a modern, web-based platform.
10% Maintain the current, production version of the application and its data. Periodically import data sets to support business needs.
10% ANALYZE - Analyze existing software. Formulate logic for moderately complex new systems. Devise moderately complex algorithms.
10% PROGRAM - Plan, design, develop, modify, test, debug, and evaluate moderately complex applications or scripts to support business processes in the college.
10% HANDLE DATA - Perform data analysis. Design and apply basic data sources. Develop and implement conversion plans.
10% DOCUMENT - Gather and analyze data to prepare system and programming documentation.
5% SECURE - Apply effective programming security practices.
5% TEST - Test / debug software. Execute test plans. Regularly create and execute unit tests.
5% IMPLEMENT - Develop system implementation plans. Assist with successful configuration management.
5% MAINTAIN - Employ source code control techniques. Assist with implementing changes in development, maintenance, and system standards and in creating software specifications.
5% COMMUNICATE - Regularly report progress on projects.
Required Qualifications
Intermediate skills associated with the design, development, modification and deployment of software, including object-oriented programming concepts. Demonstrated software repository skills. Knowledge of secure software development. Demonstrated ability to follow software specifications. Experience with Microsoft Access, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), and SQL, or a willingness to ramp up quickly. Experience with common programming tools, including industry-standard programming languages for web-based application development. Knowledge of other IT-related areas. Practiced communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate and communicate with technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Able to clearly and concisely communicate technical information verbally and in writing. Self-motivated. Works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Demonstrated problem-solving skills. Bachelor\'s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $32.00 - $37.00.
This is a Limited, part-time position (43% FTE).
