:The Assistant Chief Engineer is responsible for supporting the Chief Engineer in overseeing the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of facility systems, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety regulations. This role will assist in managing a team of engineers and technicians, while also focusing on the maintenance of critical systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other building infrastructure.Pay: $79.25/hourThe pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position. A specific offer will vary based on applicant's experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.Benefit Information:This is a union position and as such will include union benefits.Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Chief Engineer in managing and overseeing the operations and maintenance of all facility systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other critical infrastructure.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to engineering staff, ensuring tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Monitor and ensure proper operation of facility systems and equipment, identifying and addressing potential issues proactively.
  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on all facility systems and equipment.
  • Support in the development and execution of maintenance schedules and programs to minimize downtime and maintain smooth operations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and building codes, providing support for audits and inspections as needed.
  • Assist with managing inventory and procurement of parts, tools, and supplies for the facility.
  • Respond to emergency situations and resolve technical issues in a timely manner to minimize disruptions.
  • Support the Chief Engineer in managing facility projects, including upgrades, installations, and renovations.
  • Provide technical expertise and support for facility-related issues, offering solutions to improve system efficiency and reliability.
Basic Qualifications:
  • 5 years+ of equivalent experience in facility operations and engineering.
  • Proven experience in maintaining and troubleshooting HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other building systems.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and guide engineering staff.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory compliance in building operations.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or facilities management) are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry tools and equipment as needed.
  • Capability to work in various environmental conditions, including confined spaces and elevated areas.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations promptly and efficiently.
