Position Summary The Assistant Director of Operations will report to the Administrative Director (AD) and work closely with the Executive Director (ED). This position will be responsible for managing Native Movement\xe2\x80\x99s properties, providing oversight on all Native Movement office spaces, land holdings, and prospective land or properties. The Assistant Director of Operations will supervise Administrative team staff in our Anchorage office, serve as back up for the Administrative Director in their absence, and lead the planning of professional development for the Administrative Team. This position will have the opportunity to put into practice equitable and socially conscious property management as well as help to support the development of Native Movement\xe2\x80\x99s growth visions related to the creation of healing and movement school centers. The ideal candidate will have strong administrative, supervision and organizational development experience. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience working independently, making decisions based on established values and practicing sound judgment. Essential Job Function Properties Management
General oversight of NM office properties in various locations across Alaska (Fairbanks, Anchorage, and others)
Serve as a primary point of contact and facilitate relationships with contractors on various building needs and/or improvements, including security system, energy efficiency improvements, outside property improvements, custodial, etc.
Respond to off-hours building concerns in collaboration with the Administrative Director as needed.
Oversee the development and implementation of office procedures in collaboration with front of house staff.
Assessing current and continued needs for space and properties; coordinate site visits as needed.
Facilitate discussions with NM staff regarding areas of improvement in office procedures and suggest solutions.
Work closely with the Executive Director and organizational leadership in the development of the NM Liberation Space
Work closely with Administrative and Executive Directors in the development of new spaces and properties.
Work with the Community Affiliate Program leadership to support property management needs of Community Affiliate-Native Movement land holdings.
Work with NM insurance broker firm to coordinate properties insurance needs.
Assist with the property taxes exemptions application process.
Rental and Tenant support
Manage leased space support and coordination \xe2\x80\x93 work with renters.
Facilitate rental agreement documentation processes, including lease agreements.
Serve as the point of contact for tenant inquiries.
Provide direct support and solutions for tenant concerns in collaboration with the Front of House staff and the Administrative Director.
Staff supervision and leadership
Day to day supervision of NM Anchorage Administrative staff.
Potential of combination of in-person and remote supervision.
Ensure that the established goals are being met and that staff have the support they need.
Collaborate with the Administrative Director to resolve conflict or situations according to our guiding principles.
Assist in the recruitment, hiring, training and evaluation of administrative staff according to the NM values and organizational goals.
Work with the administrative team as a whole to identify areas of professional growth and facilitate opportunities.
Serve as the backup for the Administrative Director in their absence.
Serve as the touch point for administrative staff
Provide guidance in decision-making in collaboration with the Executive Director as needed.

Supervision Received and Exercised This position will report to the Administrative Director. Additionally, this position supervises two to four Administrative staff members. Remote supervision may be required. Administrative and front of house experience required.
Prior supervision experience required.
Excellent analysis, diagnostic and problem solving skills.
Excellent oral and written communication ability, including the ability to explain concepts in simple language and relate them to organizational goals.
Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to build trust and maintain relationships with staff across the organization and externally.
Experience developing and/or managing processes related to property management is highly preferred.
Outstanding organizational and time-management skills; detail-oriented
Familiarity with process design and/or implementation.
Experience coordinating service contracts and/or rental agreement highly preferred
Working knowledge of online tools for process management, including Google Suite, DocuSign, and Slack.
Excellent self discipline; must be proactive and a self-starter.
Knowledge of data analysis, risk management and forecasting methods.
Assess impact with a strong lens of justice, equity, and social/community responsibility.

Lived experience engaging and/or organizing within Alaska Native/Indigenous communities both rural and urban (i.e. cultural practices, potlatches, ceremony), and having a deep understanding of Alaska Native ways of life.

Additional Job Information This position requires regular attendance in accordance with the established schedule as this is the most common time to conduct business with customers, vendors and employees.
