Summary of Position:

The Assistant Grower II is responsible for mixing fertilizer, managing the irrigation system, walking the ponds for quality checks, and monitoring the CMP growing schedule as needed. The Assistant Grower II will also support the growing team with CMP inventory management, integrated pest management, and on-call rotation.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Monitor growing conditions and discuss changes in humidity, moisture, temperature, and other cultivation procedures with Grower to ensure conformance with quality control standards
• Execute appropriate irrigation schedule and fertilizer application
• Walk the ponds daily to perform quality checks, collect data, and document observations
• Collect water sample requests and compares test results to quality specifications and limits; notify Grower when results are out of specification
• Serve as a back-up and/or escalation for the management of the growing and yield schedules within the ERP/CMP
• Maintain accurate grower inventory counts within the CMP for seed, peatmoss, and other consumables needed for growing
• Assist with cleaning and maintain of irrigation system and injection equipment
• Maintain accurate records and ensure all duties are completed properly.
• Maintain current knowledge of growing techniques and technologies.
• Required to work weekends and holidays on a regular basis for emergency and alarm coverage.
• Respond to Priva alarms if needed; follows Priva and growing best practices to address a variety of issues.
• In the event of an emergency, you must be made available to preform emergency management duties as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Familiar with Priva or similar growing software; able to gain proficiency in essential tasks (within two months).
• Well organized and able to think critically through changes made
• Knowledge of horticulture pertaining to leafy greens
• Ability to communicate professionally in English; Spanish language proficiency is desired.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Horticulture Sciences, Biochemical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent number of years of experience.
• Preference will be given to candidates who possess (1) year of horticulture/growing experience.
• Data systems experience preferred; Business Central/Microsoft Dynamics 365

Supervisory:

• This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities

Work Environment:

Greenhouse, 70%

• The temperatures in the greenhouse vary depending on the weather outside
• Climate can range from hot and humid to cold depending on the location and time of year
• PPE must be worn at all times

Office, 30%

• Sitting at a desk and/or staring at a computer screen for extended periods of time

Physical Requirements:

• Constantly repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
• Constantly moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.

• Occasionally moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
• Occasionally remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
• Occasionally adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
