Position Summary

The Assistant Professor position in the Department of History, Philosophy, Political Science, and Religious Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana University Northwest is a full-time, tenure-track, 10-month position with summer assignments and associated stipend in accordance with programmatic need. The Assistant Professor of Political Science will be an experienced scholar/teacher of Latin American and/or African Politics who is committed to the success of a diverse body of students and will have an active record of scholarship.

Core responsibilities include teaching undergraduate students in face-to-face and asynchronous online modalities in the Department, disciplinary research, as well as service activities. Preference will be given to Political Scientists who also have the ability and desire to teach courses that can be cross listed with the Minority Studies Program. The Assistant Professor of Political Science will teach three courses each semester, will engage in active research and publication, and provide service to the department, campus, discipline, and the community.

Basic Qualifications

Required Qualifications

\xc2\xb7 An earned Ph.D. in Political Science by August 1, 2024.

\xc2\xb7 Demonstrated ability to conduct research and/or creative activity.

\xc2\xb7 Demonstrated experience teaching Political Science courses at the university level with Latin America and/or Africa as areas(s) of specialization.

\xc2\xb7 Area of disciplinary research in Latin American and/or African politics.

Preferred Qualifications:

\xc2\xb7 Experience with online college-level teaching.

\xc2\xb7 Experience teaching a diverse student body and first-generation college students.

\xc2\xb7 Membership and engagement in academic and professional associations related to the discipline.

\xc2\xb7 Have the ability and desire to teach courses that can be cross listed with the Minority Studies Program.
