Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assistant Program Director.

In this role, the successful candidate Consistent with goals of the System Director of Aortic Surgery Program, the Departmental Chair of Cardiothoracic Surgery, the Chief of the Division of Cardiology and CV Strategic Areas, coordinate efforts of a multi-disciplinary team and provide content expertise to optimize continuity of care, efficiency, clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction across the full continuum of care for patients with acute and chronic aortic pathologies. Facilitate program growth and coordination of program research with its clinical activities. Manage ongoing QA activities for patients with acute and chronic aortic pathologies. Reporting Relationship: Primary reporting to the Chair, Cardiothoracic Surgery via Aortic Surgery System Director. Additional reporting to Administrator, Cardiothoracic Surgery for coordination of ambulatory clinic resources.

Job Responsibilities:

  • In combination with the System Director of Aortic Surgery and interfacing with marketing and other administrative departments and resources throughout the medical center, monitor referral activity and assess and coordinate opportunities to enhance referrals via physician communication, direct contact with physician practice staff, community events, lectures, etc.
  • Establish operational protocols, including scheduling protocols, for coordination among involved disciplines and resources: surgical office consults, OR, Vascular Surgery, non-invasive cardiology, Structural Heart, Genetics, etc.
  • In combination with the System Director of Aortic Surgery and other involved clinical leadership, facilitate the development of clinical protocols for management of the patients through continuum of care.
  • In combination with nurse education and other resources, provide education to involved clinical disciplines and care units as to specified protocols.
  • Facilitate creation of operational monitoring tools, dashboard and data collection to enable optimal program management, resource utilization and expansion of resources as needed.
  • Triage new referrals, manage the appropriate pre-clinic imaging and testing is completed and available for review, educate patients living with aortic diseases and dissection regarding lifestyle modifications, assist in education and preparing patients for major aortic surgery, and coordinating early and longitudinal follow-up care.
  • Manage medical secretaries to ensure pre-testing is completed and preparing patients for the operating room.
  • Coordinate with the Administrator as it pertains to office practice coverage, provide direct clinical management of clinical support staff (e.g., NP) providing patient screening, inpatient rounding coverage and post discharge care for patients with acute and chronic aortic pathologies.
  • Serve as Program liaison to all clinical services and administrative departments of the medical center for purposes of coordination, promotion and continued refinement of the Program.
  • Coordinate clinical activity interface with research management and develop monitoring tools to describe ongoing research and other academic activities of the Program.
  • Work with data manager to ensure QA of all research endeavors and develop multi-institutional clinical database.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a At least 5 years experience in clinical delivery as either RN or APP within cardiology or cardiothoracic services. Clinical licensure in involved discipline (PA or NP).

Required Licenses: Registered Nurse License-NYS, Nurse Practitioner-NYS

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $92,066.00 - $120,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
