Common Ground High School is the nation\xe2\x80\x99s longest-running environmental charter high school, founded in 1997. Our 230 students form an inclusive, powerful community of learners and leaders. About the position

We are seeking an experienced handyperson, who has hands-on experience working in the electrical, plumbing, landscaping, and carpentry fields. They will be the second in command to the Site and Facilities Manager. The person in this role should be comfortable working in all weather conditions.

Due to the nature of the work, the Site and Facilities Manager will be required to work flexible hours with some nights, early mornings and weekends for a total of 40-45 hours per week. This is a full time permanent 12 month position. Common Ground offers full time employees a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision and life insurance, 25 days of Paid Time off Per Year and 13 paid holidays.

This position is represented by Common Ground\xe2\x80\x99s Collective Bargaining Agreement with UAW Local 2110. Compensation for this position is on the Coordinator Scale (Scale II), with a starting salary range of 45K - $50K. Precise placement on this scale will depend on prior relevant work experience.

Assistant Site and Facilities Manager Responsibilities

Perform regular maintenance and repair of all buildings including as necessary painting, minor plumbing and electrical repairs, etc

Maintain all landscaped areas including mowing, weeding, mulching, watering, feeding, etc.

Assist in reconfiguring the site to meet seasonal needs of programs

Assist with setting up and staffing festivals and events during the year as necessary

Address in a timely manner potential site related hazards to ensure the safety of staff and program participants

Assist with winter snow removal

Assist with the upkeep and repair of sidewalks, parking lots, fences, planters, benches, sheds, tents, camping platforms and other site improvements

Assist with the management of Common Ground\xe2\x80\x99s waste management systems, both indoor and outdoors

Other duties as assigned by Site and Facilities Manager

Requirements and Qualifications

A detail-oriented, self\xe2\x80\x90starter and team player that takes pride in their work

This position is physical and requires strenuous physical activity at times, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting at least 50 pounds.

Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions

A valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license is required.

Experience driving a truck and trailer and use of landscape equipment preferred

Ability to conduct oneself appropriately in a setting with many children, young adults, and public visitors.

Small engine maintenance and repair preferred

Familiarity with weed whackers, snowblowers, lawn mowers, tractor, powertools, chainsaw and various other facilities related equipment.
