The Assistant/Associate Dean for Clinical Medicine-Orange Park reports
to the Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs and is responsible for
teaching, scientific scholarship, student progress as well as the
development and maintenance of clinical training sites including the
recruitment, development and oversight of the clinical faculty,
preceptors and associated staff. The Assistant/Associate Dean of
Clinical Medicine will provide leadership and oversight for the
clinical educational program at the Orange Park location and will work
closely with the Assistant/Associate Dean(s) of Clinical Medicine at
all other DCOM locations. The Assistant/Associate Dean of Clinical
Medicine-Orange Park will also work collaboratively with the
Assistant/Associate Deans of Basic Medical Sciences across all
locations and the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs to provide
clinical oversight for the clinical portions of the preclinical
curriculum. The Assistant/Associate Dean of Clinical Medicine-Orange
Park will demonstrate a commitment to interprofessional clinical
education throughout the curriculum.
Required Qualifications
Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree (AOA/COCA accredited COM);
and previous experience in leadership and post-baccalaureate
health-related academic programs with direct student contact;
demonstrated knowledge of undergraduate and graduate medical
educations; eligible for licensure in Florida; certification by
AOA/ABMS board; eligible for faculty appointment at LMU-DCOM;
preferable as an associate professor or professor rank.
Preferred Qualifications
Post-undergraduate and doctoral training experience teaching
basic sciences, medical and graduate courses; at least three (3)
years full time equivalent of educational leadership experience;
at least five (5) years full time equivalent experience in the
practice of medicine.

develop and maintain relationships with clinical sites, including hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities

foster strong relationships with clinical and hospital leadership to align the educational objectives of DCOM with the needs of the healthcare system

collaborate with healthcare organizations to ensure that clinical experiences meet accreditation and regulatory standards

monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of clinical rotations and make recommendations for improvement

promote clinical service and demonstrate adequate standards of professional linguistic expression in writing and speech

carry out lecture, seminar, small group discussion and/or clinical assignments and responsibilities effectively

provide service by attending scheduled faculty meetings and by serving on appointed and or elected committees as required

work with the Assistant/Associate Dean of Assessment and Faculty Development

work, as needed, with Assistant/Associate Deans of Basic Medical Sciences and/or Associate Dean of Academic Affairs on curricular matters

serve as an active member of the department, working closely with the department chair to further the department and College mission and vision

complete required institutional, program accreditation, and other reports necessary for the operation and advancement of University programs, both on campus and at extended campus sites

demonstrate and supervise students during clinical educational activities utilizing standardized patients and/or volunteer patients

supervise students during authorized and approved events including health fairs, sports physicals, or community outreach programs
Job Duty
serves as an example to learners and colleagues of appropriate professional behavior

work to implement preceptor development opportunities and trainings with the Office of Continuing Medical Education

develop, implement and review preceptor evaluation modalities
