Job Description


Rudman Winchell is looking for an attorney interested in business and commercial transactions to join our Corporate/Commercial Real Estate Department. Must be an attorney admitted to practice in the state of Maine.

Maintains positive contact with clients and observes confidentiality in client matters. Participates in the firm\'s marketing efforts and is responsible for client development. May be assigned to work independently or under the direct supervision of other attorney(s) employed by the firm.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assists commercial clients with real estate transactions, entity formations and structuring, mergers and acquisitions, bank lending, contract drafting and negotiation.
  • Collaborates seamlessly with peers in other practice areas, as needed, in order to provide the full range of legal services our clients require.
  • Follows the ethical requirements as set forth by the Rules of Professional Conduct of the state and complies with all requirements of the firm\'s professional liability insurer.
  • Monitors account receivables.
  • Reviews and analyzes newly assigned work and existing matters in order to provide legal representation until the matter is concluded.
  • Responsible for assembling and ensuring the accuracy of all correspondence and documents in connection with legal representation.
  • Performs necessary legal research using all available resources.
  • Formulates and issues well-rounded legal opinions to clients.
  • Advises and communicates regularly with clients regarding the status of a matter.
  • Knowledge of law and legal practice in order to perform substantive legal function in client matters as normally acquired through completion of a Juris Doctor degree and successful completion of Maine State Bar Exam.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail .
  • Analytical skills necessary to conduct complex and detailed analysis of legal matters.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate with a diverse group of clients, attorneys and staff and provide authorized information with ordinary courtesy and tact.
  • Ability to travel to private and public buildings locally and statewide via private or public conveyance to attend to client needs on legal matters.
  • Work frequently requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.
  • Maintains membership in state bar and completes all required Continuing Legal Education requirements on an annual basis.
