Job Description

The Associate Director of Community Development is responsible for providing high-level support to the Director of Community Development in all department activities, including leadership, project management, management of business relationships, budget planning and oversight, real estate acquisition and disposition efforts, new construction, rehabilitation project initiatives, real estate owned administration and support, rural community outreach, facilitation of affordable housing demand and production initiatives in rural areas, and ensuring program and funding compliance. The Associate Director of Community Development acts as the direct supervisor to assigned department staff, including providing oversight and support to management level staff in the supervision of their assigned staff. The Associate Director of Community Development is responsible for:

• Directly supervising assigned department staff, including the facilitation of learning and development, supervisory support, monitoring workflow and productivity, assigning tasks, conducting evaluations, and managing disciplinary processes in accordance with employment law and agency policies and practices.
• Assisting the Director of Community Development in establishing and maintaining business relationships and stakeholder/community/partner trust in the program/agency and presenting on projects to large groups to establish project justification and/or required consent or approvals as requested.
• Assisting the Director of Community Development with budget planning and oversight, oversight of projects and staff, monitoring and improving processes, and negotiating contracts.
• Acting as head of the Department in the Director's absence.
