Position Overview

This candidate will work directly with (and report to) the Head of Restructuring and will work very closely with Head of Underwriting, Head of Portfolio Reporting & Analytics (\xe2\x80\x9cPR&A\xe2\x80\x9d), and their respective teams. This is a high impact position and a critical role aimed at mitigating our portfolio\xe2\x80\x99s credit losses and maximizing investor returns. The candidate will have significant exposure to Deerpath\xe2\x80\x99s senior leadership team and investment committee, and will interact directly with, and provide strategic and operational support to, company C-suite executives on their turnaround efforts.

Primary Responsibilities

• Supporting the Head of Restructuring with the following tasks:
• Actively manage the firm\xe2\x80\x99s underperforming and distressed credit portfolio.
• Handle complex financial and operating restructuring cases, including designing, communicating, and implementing restructuring strategies, and leading negotiations with internal and external constituents.
• Perform comprehensive financial, legal, valuation, debt recovery and IRR analyses for underperforming and distressed companies.
• Evaluate exit strategies for portfolio companies.
• Build and maintain database of c-suite executives, industry experts, advisors, and investment bankers to support portfolio companies.
• Provide monthly portfolio updates to Investment Committee.
• Conducting weekly portfolio company calls with management teams to review liquidity, financial trends, and operating performance across the portfolio, and provide written updates to the Head of Restructuring.
• Working collaboratively with the Underwriting and Portfolio Reporting & Analysis (PR&A) teams.
• Staffing, managing, and mentoring junior and mid-level investment and PR&A team members.
• Attending industry conferences to support our portfolio companies.

Desired Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of total experience.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant restructuring and / or distressed debt buyside experience.
• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or other related analytical fields.
• Advanced degree (MBA, JD) or a CPA preferable.
• Exceptional negotiation skills with complex situations involving senior level stakeholders.
• Articulate and persuasive communicator with ability to handle difficult audiences and discussions.
• Strong financial analysis and modeling skills. Solid understanding of financial statements.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Team player who can excel in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, challenging work environment.
• Able to work independently. High energy style, flexible and adaptive.
• Candidates must work from the Chicago, Boston, or Miami-Ft Lauderdale area office.
• Willingness to travel.
