This role falls within The Resource Group\'s Operations and Logistics Optimization Solution. Operations and Logistics Optimization comprises six communities working together to align inventory and data management, operational procedures, and key performance indicators, and to deliver a cost-effective, highly-efficient managed distributor model. By combining a culture of hospitality with leading operations and logistics processes and controls, these communities of skilled associates ensure resource and supply management runs silently in the background and operates in service of physicians, clinicians, leadership, and associates.

The Surgical Support Services team is responsible for assisting with the delivery of consistently exceptional experiences for our surgeons, clinicians and patients. As a member of The Resource Group\xe2\x80\x99s Surgical Support Services team, the Associate Manager, Surgical Support Services - Sterile Processing provides leadership and direction within the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) at their location(s) to deliver quality service to physicians and clinicians and support exceptional patient safety, outcomes and customer satisfaction. The Associate Manager is responsible for monitoring the day-to-day activity related to processing/sterilization service, inventory control, and case cart management within the department as well as supply/support staff as appropriate.

The Associate Manager provides guidance, direction and leadership to all Sterile Processing associates within their location(s). The Associate Manager position responsibilities include managing the daily work activities of the department staff; ensuring quality, productivity, and labor efficiency; and assisting leadership in accomplishing operational objectives. This Associate Manager should model the attitude and culture expected throughout the department and build relationships with SPD customers. The Associate Manager provides guidance to staff and is responsible for staffing, budget compliance, contributing to staffing decisions such as hiring and terminating employment, coaching and counseling employees on work-related performance, and assisting in the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure a safe and effective work environment. The Associate Manager also implements training, monitoring and operations initiatives that assure compliance with ethical and legal business practices and accreditation/regulatory/government regulations. This Associate Manager should lead in the professional development and growth of their team members.

Responsibilities
  • Builds and maintains relationships with Ascension market leadership, listens to end-user needs, moves initiatives forward, and serves as a resource when issues arise; supervises and manages associate performance; provides ongoing performance feedback, addresses issues, orients and trains associates, monitors workflows and develops plans for process improvement
  • Promotes culture of continuous improvement by encouraging identification of opportunities and resourcing the solution for identified opportunities
  • Supports, implements and monitors infection prevention goals
  • Ensures budget compliance, identifies budget variances and determines strategy for budget reconciliation
  • Supervises and manages associate performance; provides ongoing performance feedback, addresses issues, orients and trains associates, monitors workflows and develops plans for process improvement
  • Monitors and ensures achievement and maintenance of certifications for staff
  • Develops and maintains standards in consistent instrument and equipment quality, distribution and availability and compliance with safety and regulatory standards; initiates improvements as necessary
  • Monitors and ensures adherence to national standards and benchmarks
  • Determines needs for systems/equipment/supplies purchases, monitors usage, and oversees proper working order and/or stock supplies
  • Develops reporting as required, including costing/budgeting (new instruments, replacement etc.), staffing etc.
  • Attends and contributes to safety huddles
  • Schedules and coordinates departmental training; manages work programs; oversees on-the-job training
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:
  • One or more of the following required:
  • Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or
job transfer date.

Education:
  • High School diploma equivalency with 3 years of cumulative experience OR Associate\'s degree/Technical degree with 2 years of experience OR 7 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • 3 years of leadership or management experience preferred
Additional Preferences
  • Bachelor\'s Degree Strongly Preferred (Applicants currently enrolled or must have completed their bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree, both internally and externally)
  • 1-3 years of combined relevant experience (project management, associate management, and/or sterile processing)
Certifications

- IAHSCMM - CRCST; Certified Registered Central Service Technician - required*

- IAHSCMM - CIS; Certified Instrument Specialist - optional

- IAHSCMM - CHL; Certified Healthcare Leader Training - optional

*Can be completed 12 months post-hire
