An International Industrial Distributor of Mechanical, Automation, Pneumatic, Hydraulic products with a broad offering of Engineering Services and System design solutions, seeks a self-motivated and dedicated Automation Specialist to generate new sales opportunities while developing long-term professional relationships with existing and new prospective customers in the Southern NY/Northern NJ and Southern New England (Connecticut and Rhode Island) marketplace.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong automation and motion control background, experience working with industrial OEMs and End User customers, selling components and automation products/systems. The candidate should also be a self-starter with excellent communication skills, is comfortable working in the field with other EIA sales employees and customers solving problems, creating solutions with the support of our manufacturers based on customer need, and acting as subject matter expert for automation/motion control product to the rest of the sales force. The candidate will also have the opportunity to help build out the automation product lineup where needed.

Candidate will be responsible for sales and customer support throughout the states of New Jersey, Southern New York, Connecticut and Rhode Island

Primary functions of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Plan and coordinate weekly joint sales calls with experienced field sales staff at new / existing customers and target prospective customers.
  • Design, size, select components, and write specifications for automation systems
  • Make presentations and conduct training for both internal associates and customers.
  • Troubleshoot automation systems in-house and on-site at customers\xe2\x80\x99 facilities.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints and issues.
  • Apply your knowledge as an expert to create and close sales opportunities with customers.
  • Conduct product Luncheon/Learns at customer sites utilizing EIA personnel and/or field sales staff.
  • Responsible for helping meet sales target goals and execution of the automation division marketing strategy.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in the automation industry as a Specialist, Engineer or Sales Support Role. Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial Engineer / technical degree or equivalent experience a plus.
  • Ability to apply common sense solutions
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English with a strong interpersonal skills
  • Candidates must have strong multitasking, organizational, and project management skills
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve existing pneumatic/automation systems and generate working solutions.
  • Work independently, part of a team environment, and with a diverse group of motion control and automation related manufacturers that we represent.
  • Training and/or education in electrical / mechanical systems including technical experience with motion control products/systems.
  • Experience and proven ability to identify/select/specify proper components to fit customers needs and specifications.
  • Strong desire to expand product and systems knowledge to become more valuable to the company and customers.
  • Above average computer experience with Microsoft Office, internet, various technical sizing programs, e-mail, smart phones, and CRM utilization.
  • Self-motivated, driven, a team player, strong communication skills and attention to details are a MUST.
  • Automation/motion control certifications are a plus.
  • Must have and maintain clean driving record.

The position is 40 hours a week; Monday through Friday, 8AM \xe2\x80\x93 5PM and will report directly to the National Sales Manager. An automobile will be provided, and technology tools (laptop, iPhone). Expected travel throughout the North East is 50-60% with occasional overnight stays.
