We offer generous benefits, including retirement, paid time off, paid parental leave, health, dental, and vision benefits, life insurance and long and short-term disability, and more.This position functions within the Psychiatry Department to assist patients with medication refills, referrals, triage, and patient education and supervises, trains, mentors and coaches Behavioral Health Nurse Case Managers and related nurse support positions.Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the JobClinical SkillsFacilitates medical care for patients in Behavioral Health/Psychiatry Service.Facilitates medication refills between patients, physician, pharmacy, and insurances.Provides nurse case management to identify and obtain appropriate medical/therapeutic information in preparation for prescriber visits.Provides patient education and refers to physician as appropriate.When appropriate conducts nursing physical evaluation, injections, and lab collection as needed.Coordinates care plans with primary care and specialties.Maintains accurate and timely documentation of services is accordance with SEARHC policy.Provides individual and family education, training and support with self-help skills that promote wellness, stability, and self-sufficiency as described in the patient treatment plan.Case ManagementProvides culturally sensitive, systematic mental health/SUD nursing care that reflects contemporary nursing practice and the client\xe2\x80\x99s health care/treatment plan.Provides comprehensive mental health case management to outpatients of all ages including coaching, guidance, support, and encouragement using a strength-based approach toward recovery as described in the patient treatment plan.Utilizes multiple brief patient contacts to provide education and reinforce clinician\xe2\x80\x99s plan of care.Identifies situations where nursing or case management would benefit the patient and communicates closely with clinicians, both medical and behavioral; identifies situations beyond nursing scope of practice and seek appropriate clinician direction.Clinic Support ActivitiesResearches patient education material.Researches equipment as needed; works with biomedical services; ensures equipment maintained.Other FunctionsOther duties as assigned.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position supervises behavioral health nursing and ancillary staff who provide or support medication management and case management functions. Duties include:Assures training, orientation, development, and competency assessments are complete.Performs annual evaluations and provides ongoing coaching and mentoring of assigned staff.Actively participates in recruitment and retention efforts.Manages and assures that staff duties are fulfilled, and proper coverage is arranged for patient care.Education, Certifications, and Licenses RequiredActive nursing license in Alaska or other U.S. state required. Direct Hire must have applied for an Alaska nursing license at time of hire. Agency staff must have an active Alaska license ORAn LPN license with 5+ years of specific Behavioral Health experience.High school diploma or equivalent required.Experience RequiredAt least 6 months\xe2\x80\x99 nurse case management experience.Experience with mental health care, SUD, and medical primary care phone triage \xe2\x80\x93 preferred.Prior experience supervising and managing nursing staff strongly preferred.Knowledge ofMedications, disease processes, and the ability to utilize information resources.How to access systems related to psychiatric/SUD patient care both within and outside of SEARHC.Understanding of TJC, CARF, CMS, HIPAA, and/or other governing body regulations applied to BH.Skills inExcellent customer service and ability to educate, mentor and lead staff.Effective oral and written communication that is culturally respectful.Healthy interpersonal communication and relationship-building.Performing a nursing assessment.Effective clear and concise clinical documentation.Cultural awareness and sensitivityAbility toManage and delegate multiple tasks simultaneously.Mediate and resolve conflict.Interview, recruit, orient, manage, and retain qualified staff.Recognize the acuity of a situation and seek an appropriate plan and level of care.Individualize education in a manner that is meaningful to each patient.Communicate with patients who may have challenges related to comprehension and mood.Interview, recruit, orient, manage, and retain qualified staff.Provide leadership and foster collaboration.Document accurately in the Electronic Health Record and/or other recording systems.Required Certifications:Licensed Practical Nurse - State of Alaska - Alaska State Board of Nursing, Registered Nurse License - State of Alaska - Alaska State Board of NursingIf you like wild growth and working with happy, enthusiastic over-achievers, you\'ll enjoy your career with us!
