We are looking for Debt Collectors who are bilingual (Spanish/English) to claim outstanding debts for our clients. As a debt collector, you will call customers to discuss repayment options and help them resolve their delinquent/defaulted accounts. This is a work from home position after completion of in office training.
Preferred candidates will have the ability to:
Consistently obtain or exceed his/her goal each month.
Accurately assess what action is most appropriate on each call to help produce desired results and act accordingly.
Develop a complete and accurate consumer profile on each call.
Consistently request PIF (Payment in Full) on first call. Schedule workable payment arrangements on next contact if PIF proves unattainable.
Demonstrate effective skip-tracing judgments, techniques, and ethics.
Know and adhere to all regulations of FDCPA and applicable collection laws of all states in which Mercantile provides collection services.
Practice collections techniques consistent with industry standards, legal standards, client specifications and demonstrate dignity, respect, assertiveness, and firmness in interactions with consumers, regardless of consumer behavior.
Provide specific and understandable requests to Administrative Support when additional client information must be obtained to successfully collect.
Essential Functions include:
Daily collection calls, updating collections systems and account entries
Collect delinquent installment and revolving loans by contacting borrowers
Educate the customer about the terms of the contract
Assist customer in resolving delinquencies
Collect in accordance with all state and federal laws inclusive of Fair Debt Collection Practices
Requirements:
1-year of Collections experience is a plus
Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
Ability to initiate collections process and communicate in an assertive, compassionate, respectful and successful manner
Ability to maintain poise under pressure
Ability to understand and follow collections laws
Ability to work in a team call center environment
Computer proficiency, familiarity with collections software and programs a plus
High School Diploma or equivalent
Proficient in organizational and time management skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong customer service skills
