Full-time dual cross-trained role Billing & Medical Records Specialist. This is a full time position with full benefits designed to toggle billing and medical records duties. 37.5 hours per week; Monday thru Thursday 4-day work week position.
This is a non-exempt position, grade 5, $18.00 per hour.
Billing: Respsonsible for collecting, posting and managing account payments from medical billing. Responsible for submitting claims and following up with insurance companies and patients to ensure appropriate collection of medical claims. Attends and participates in various Medicaid/Medicare/Insurance regulations and guidelines update workshops and meetings.
Medical Records: Responsible for gathering, processing, and in-taking patient medical records and reporting patient information for health standards. This position will ensure medical records are maintained in a manner compliant with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, along with ethical, legal and regulatory requirements of the medical services system.
This position requires: High School/GED required with two years of experience.
Billing: Medical office/healthcare cash handling including posting charges, payments and adjustments, collections, medical billing or an equivalent combination of related training, experience with working knowledge of applicable computer software programs such as Custom Data Processing (CDP).
Medical Records: Medical records experience in a Medical Records/Health Information healthcare setting with computerized and/or manual filing systems with basic undestanding of medical terminology.
The ideal candidate would meet the following criteria; medical billing in a public health department, physician\'s office or other out-patient facility setting, experience being responsible for medical charts (not just using them), experience with software such as CDP, Medical Manager, Medisoft, or other medical billing software, medical billing certification.
