Bioinformatics Engineer

Salt Lake City, UT (hybrid and/or remote)

12month Contract - likely to extend

Pay Range: $50.00 - $60.00per hr

Our client in Utah is looking for a strong Bioinformatics Engineer to work on bioinformatics algorithms and software solutions to analyze and interpret complex biological data. This position is for a minimum 12 month contract, but could very likely extend. You will be working in the field of genomics, computational biology, and population genetics! With that you will collaborate closely with scientists, researchers, data scientists, software engineers, and biologists, to integrate bioinformatics components into larger research projects or products. So, in other words, really cool stuff!

Required Skills:

• 3+ years of recent hands-on bioinformatics algorithm development and software engineering
• 3+ years of Python, R, or Java development experience being done with bioinformatics
• Experience with Nextflow bioinformatics frameworks and libraries
• Experience with building bioinformatics pipelines for processing and analyzing biological data using Nextflow
• Experience with \'high-throughput\' data analysis, including next-generation sequencing of NGSdata, and/or microarray data
• Experience working with larger, enterprise level software platforms

Bonus/Soft Skills:

• Experience implementing efficient data storage and retrieval mechanisms for large-scale biological datasets, leveraging databases and AWS technologies
• Experience with data processing automation, analysis, and visualization workflows, ensuring efficiency and consistency across multiple projects.
• Statistical analysis, data mining, and visualization of biological datasets to identify patterns, trends, and actionable insights
• Experience building interactive and intuitive visualizations or dashboards to present complex bioinformatics results and facilitate data exploration by end-users
• Master\'s or Ph.D. degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or Biotechnology
