Maintains accurate and current financial records for the school; performs related work as required.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary function of an employee in this class is to collect fees, process invoices and bills and prepare monthly payments, perform general clerical and accounting support duties and records maintenance, and provide customer service. A Bookkeeper must possess accounting, clerical, and customer service skills; he/she acquires knowledge of department functions through on-the-job experience. The work is performed under the supervision of the Principal, although some latitude is granted for independent judgment using standard practices to resolve customer issues or correct procedures. The primary duties of this class are performed in a general office environment.ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Receives student registration fees, club fundraising fees, sporting event admissions, and other designated funds and makes daily deposits;
  • Enters District purchase orders into accounting system;
  • Processes invoices, statements, and bills; prepares monthly payments;
  • Processes and maintains computerized account balances and related information;
  • Orders and maintains supply room for general school supplies;
  • Verifies billing information, services, and other information with vendors;
  • Processes monthly time cards and payroll for classified employees;
  • Provides general clerical and accounting assistance;
  • Answers incoming phone calls and greets walk-in customers, provides general information to the public, answers questions and inquiries, provides specific information about accounts, and provides referrals to other departments or staff as needed;
  • Assists customers and vendors with School District procedures and explains District procedures/policies/programs to customers and resolves customer concerns;
  • Prepares, distributes and maintains a variety of documents, correspondence, log sheets, applications, and related documents;
  • Maintains files, logs and other records;
  • Reconciles monthly bank statements and posts interest to accounts;
  • Completes special research assignments;
  • Monitors customer account collections; maintains logs, correspondence, and payment records;
  • Provides data entry services, faxing, typing, and filing in support of school functions;
  • Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with District policies, procedures and safety practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be bondable.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency; preferably supplemented with course work in accounting, math or other business applications; and
  • Two (2) years accounting, billing, or clerical experience, preferably in a school office position; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
  • Assists with school budget preparation and management;
  • Performs other related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS AND ABILITIESKnowledge of:
  • Operation of standard office equipment, including a personal computer and job-related software applications;
  • Customer service procedures and techniques;
  • English grammar and punctuation;
  • Accounting, bookkeeping, cash handling, and record keeping practices and procedures;
  • Account collection procedures.

  • Perform duties accurately and efficiently under time sensitive deadlines;
  • Respond courteously to customer and vendor inquiries;
  • Operate standard office equipment and a personal computer including program applications appropriate to assigned duties;
  • Maintain effective working relationships with other District employees, supervisory personnel, vendors, and the public;
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL ABILITIES
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal conversation and to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person;
  • Sufficient visual acuity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to comprehend written work and assessments, prepare and review documents, and organize documents and materials;
  • Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to perform repetitive hand/wrist/arm motions and to operate a computer and office equipment;
  • Sufficient personal mobility, flexibility, and balance, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to work in an office environment, lifting or moving objects that weigh up to 20 lbs.;
  • Job tasks require, with or without reasonable accommodation, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting and grasping.
  • Must have a valid Idaho Driverxe2x80x99s License and a vehicle to drive and/or must provide own transportation for job related activities.
