Business Support Lead - R&D Breeding Production - Huxley, IA

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Business Support Lead, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for both the Huxley & Urbandale sites. You will assure that facilities, equipment, and operations are fully compliant and enabled to deliver the global pipelines. This role provides critical leadership for the operation of the site including HSE, Maintenance, labor resourcing & compliance. You will have direct people leadership of 5+ full time HSE & Maintenance technicians and Labor support staff as well as seasonal and contract personal.

Work is onsite and Huxley IA , but will travel to Urbandale and field sites as needed. This role will report to the Huxley/Urbandale Site Lead. Hiring for this role is being supported by Mitch Blum.

The primary responsibilities of this role, Business Support Lead , are to:

  • Provide direct people leadership, including coaching, developing and hiring of site Safety, Maintenance and support staff;
  • Develop and execute strategies for ensuring site HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental) & Occupational Medicine priorities, labor sourcing and management, Quality & Continuous improvement programs to meet business needs to deliver the Breeding pipeline;
  • Responsible for maintaining compliance for all HSE, Regulated/Stewarded, and QMS for internal and external processes, protocols, requirements including local and federal governmental rules and regulations;
  • Participate in the hiring, supervision and onboarding of both full time and temporary support staff;
  • Responsible for coaching, counseling, and performance management of employees;
  • Manages direct reports through motivation, recognition, leadership and providing clear and timely feedback. Conduct workforce planning for site to identify contingent labor based on operational needs;
  • Develop and lead annual and long-range EBIT and capital financial strategies for the sites that meets operational needs efficiently and sustainably and creates opportunities for new value-driven projects;
  • Oversee the facilities & maintenance of machinery and infrastructure of the site, preventive maintenance and strategic equipment program to assure optimal function of the site;
  • Drive and lead improvement efforts designed to simplify maintenance and operation of technical research equipment such as planters, hand-held computers, various robotics and computer-based seed handling, shelling, counting and packaging systems;
  • Partners with the Site Lead on maintaining and forecasting of the budget and keeping spend on target to meet overall corporate and company financial targets and internal controls including the spend and tracking of multi-million-dollar assets and capital projects;
  • Position entails driving a pool company vehicle.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree;
  • Strong work-related experience in agriculture, supply chain or manufacturing;
  • Valid Drivers License. In order to be eligible to drive a company car, your driving record must meet and maintain guidelines based on the company\xe2\x80\x99s Risk Screening for Hiring Drivers \xe2\x80\x93 MVR will be reviewed as part of pre-employment screening and ongoing monitoring as a Bayer Vehicle Driver;
  • Must have availability to meet overtime demands, including occasional work on weekends and holidays
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree disciplines: Agriculture, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Health, Safety & Environment, Quality, Business or Engineering;
  • 8+ years\xe2\x80\x99 work-related experience in agriculture, supply chain, manufacturing.
