Job Title: Adventure Camp Group Leader

POSITION SUMMARY:

Supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Builds members\' and the community\'s understanding of the YMCA\'s cause and impact.

Provides direct supervision to a group of children in a seasonal day camp setting. Provides positive engagement with youth in a safe, nurturing environment with a diverse, equitable, and inclusive lens. Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Builds personal, culturally aware, and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests. While exemplifying the Y\'s commitment to DEI and the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility and responds to all member and community inquiries in a timely manner.

• Supervises and engages a group of children.
• Implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and consistent with YMCA values.
• Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
• Attends staff meetings, trainings, and special events. (Family nights or YMCA events)
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
• Builds and maintains positive, culturally aware relationships with parents, youth participants and other staff. Models\' relationship-building skills in all interactions.
• PHYSICAL DEMANDS Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS: * At least 18 years of age

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Must pass a background check.
• Previous experience working with youth preferably in a day camp setting.
• Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living/education, music (instrumental or songs), dramatic arts, aquatics, sports/PE/recreational games, creative arts, etc.
• Strong Desire to work with youth grades K-12.
• Behavioral management skills
• Ability to actively implement program activities.
• Effective verbal communication skills
• Ability to be flexible, multi-task.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training with the first 30 days of hire.
