We are currently looking for a Patient Care Coordinator to join the IPMR family! This benefit-eligible role is 36 hours and 5 days per week.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Patient Care Coordinator is the first line of communication for incoming calls to the practice. The position provides a one-touch resolution for many incoming questions, comments, or concerns. This person is responsible for incoming correspondence via fax, Prior Authorizations, New Patient Referrals as well as other various tasks.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
: The Patient Care Coordinator reports to the Clinic Manager; may receive direction from Administrator and/or Providers
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Answers telephone in polite, prompt, helpful manner. Direct calls to appropriate person and/or create telephone encounters as appropriate. Communicates medical information to patients at instruction of a provider only.
Assist with maintaining the schedule: this may include scheduling, re-scheduling, and cancelling appointments.
If needed, query the patient regarding the reason for appointment including asking if it is the result of an injury, refer patient to billing as needed for Self pay accounts to establish payment arrangements.
Manage telephone encounters and assign to the provider. Make sure that all telephone encounters created are time stamped.
Manage patient portal messages
EDUCATION:
High school graduate or equivalent. Technical training in healthcare field desired. CERTIFICATION IN MEDICAL ASSISTING REQUIRED
EXPERIENCE
: Previous experience in healthcare administration or other related fields.
Must have strong organizational skills. And have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
SKILLS:
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, patients, organizations and the public.
Attention to detail.
Basic computer skills.
ABILITIES:
Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction.
Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems.
Ability to communicate clearly.
Ability to prioritize and handle many tasks/projects simultaneously
Ability to be proactive - anticipate problems before they occur.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS
: Work is performed in a busy office environment and requires desk work. Frequent contact with employees, patients and outside agencies. Public contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
: Sitting required for extended periods of time. Manual dexterity for using a computer keyboard. Bending and stooping required.
