Overview

The CEO Communications Senior Manager is responsible for creating, leading and executing a communications strategy to support, position and elevate the reputation of the CEO. This includes internal communications, thought leadership, speeches, social media channels, conferences/speaking engagements and financial communications.

This role involves a high degree of relationship-building with Fifth Third senior leaders across business lines and corporate functions to ensure alignment across messages and priorities. The ideal candidate will combine a deep understanding of Fifth Third\xe2\x80\x99s business priorities with current events, achieve disciplined plan execution with attention to detail, and drive measurable results.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank\'s risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, in partnership with the Head of Corporate Communications, the CEO\xe2\x80\x99s enterprise communications strategy and plan.
  • Drive flawless execution of the CEO communications plan through partnerships across a highly matrixed organization, including design, content creation, production, logistics and ongoing amplification of key programs. Current tactics include:
  • \xe2\x80\x9cTownhalls\xe2\x80\x9d with the CEO \xe2\x80\x94 highlighting company priorities and initiatives
  • Leadership quarterly meetings
  • In-person leadership meetings; including regional operating reviews.
  • Earnings employee communications
  • Annual Letters (to Shareholders via the Annual Report; Community Partners via the Sustainability Report; and others)
  • Build solid relationships and proactively collaborate with cross-functional business partners and key subject matter experts to align strategy, unify messaging, and deliver programming that will resonate with target audiences across the Bancorp.
  • Partner with key internal stakeholders to create robust briefing materials to prepare the CEO for all engagements (including researching critical topics that will serve as background for any given initiative and creating talking points).
  • Learn the CEO\xe2\x80\x99s voice and create all necessary materials (internal and external).
  • Implement processes that drive long-term planning, high-quality content gathering and rigorous execution across all aspects of CEO communications.
  • Proactively plan for issues and crisis; determine strategy for CEO participation in issues or reputational threats.
  • Provide a compelling point of view on positioning, internal communications approach and channel strategy for the CEO for projects and announcements. Be able to debate and offer a point of view with supporting evidence where applicable.
  • Manage editorial calendar across CEO comms.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree required, Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree preferred. Experience in banking and/or financial services strongly preferred. Prior experience supporting CEO communications strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience with deep understanding of corporate communications and the highly developed inter-connectivity of internal organizational communications, executive communications, PR, events, thought leadership, and social media.
  • Experience working with and building effective relationships at all levels of employees and leaders across the organization, including the C-suite and executive team.
  • Strong executive presence that inspires trust and confidence; ability to work with discretion and exercise sound judgment independently.
  • Ability to deliver against tight deadlines when they arise, resolve issues, and propose solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly flexible; able to quickly respond to changing or unanticipated needs and mobilize cross-functional teams accordingly.
  • Strategic problem solver who can look around corners to identify potential obstacles and design thoughtful, creative solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and execute impactful integrated programs using multiple channels to achieve stated strategic objectives with measurable outcomes.
  • Experience with a range of internal communications channels, including corporate intranet, email, video/webinar, in-office activations, etc.
  • Exceptional skills in the following categories: writing, editing and project management.
  • Intellectual ability and presence to earn the respect and attention of key internal partners, balanced with a sense of humor.
