We serve a population of over 250,000 and feature two hospitals, two urgent cares, an emergent care center, outpatient services and a provider network with 19 regional locations.Summary \xe2\x80\xa2 Under the direction of the department Manager and supervision of an RN, performs a variety of non-professional nursing duties supporting the direct care of patients. This position will also provide continuous observation and monitoring of patients at high risk of causing injury to self or others during their hospital stay. The position safely performs a variety of patient care tasks. Responsibilities o Provides for patient\'s personal hygiene: bathing, oral care, bowel and bladder elimination (to include emptying/changing colostomy bags), nail care, skin care, dressing and grooming, bed-making in accordance with patient\'s needs and comfort measures. o Provides for activities of daily living: meal set up and feeding assistance, ambulation, turning and positioning patients, delivering fresh water and nourishment between meals. o Administers dry sterile and non-sterile dressings, surgical preps, ice packs, heat treatments, warming and/or cooling devices, applies restraints, and performs specimen collection. Assist with patient care as directed by the RN within the CNA scope of practice. o Performs and records vital signs, intake and output information, height and weight as per unit standard. Reports observations and changes in vital signs in a timely manner to the RN caring for the patient to ensure professional assessment. o Responds to emergency and non-emergency call lights in a timely manner. o Works effectively as a team member in the delivery of care and assists in the orientation of new employees. o Maintains good working relations among all nursing unit personnel and other hospital team members through appropriate communication. Commits to the creation of an educational and professional climate that encourages students to attain their maximum potential and fosters originality and intellectual inquiry. o Utilizes resources and materials in an efficient, safe and cost effective manner. Maintains an orderly and clean environment for patients and co-workers, transports and uses equipment safely and appropriately. o Maintains professional competence through formal education, workshops and unit specific education. Attends/completes 100% of all required unit and hospital education events and meets established deadlines in doing so. o Adheres to performing/receiving bedside handover as per organizational standards. Provides an accurate report to the oncoming CNA and to the attending RN. Demonstrates proficiency as defined in the position/group/department checklists and unit specific competency standards within the first three (3) months of hire. o Demonstrates ability to expertly navigate electronic medical records and paper documentation to document care provided and also when performing/receiving handover communication as per hospital policy. o Sits and monitors patients who are on suicide watch by maintaining \xe2\x80\x9cline of sight\xe2\x80\x9d with the patient. Records observations for patients on legal holds to meet regulatory requirements. Perform as a patient safety observer for patients who are safety concerns and being monitored with remote video surveillance. o Must be able to maintain confidentiality of patient information. Demonstrates tact and courtesy at all times. Demonstrates customer oriented approach through the expression of respect and understanding when communicating with others. o Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications \xe2\x80\xa2 Required: o High School Diploma or equivalent. o Current CNA certification with Nevada State Board of Nursing. o Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (BLS) for Healthcare Providers. Preferred: o Complete the Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
