Department OverviewOregon Health & Science University is Oregonxe2x80x99s #1 hospital. The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is part of the health care team in locations throughout OHSU. The CNA provides direct or general nursing care to patients from admission through discharge under the direction of a licensed nurse and within the parameters of the state licensing board. The CNA assists the patient, patients' families, nursing staff and other support staff to assure the delivery of safe, quality care in alignment with the mission and vision of Doernbecher Children's Hospital and OHSU.The Ancillary Float Pool CNA's travel to all units across the OHSU and DCH Portland campus. New hires to float pool will start in the Adult Acute Care units, and after 6 months gaining floating experience will expand to the ED, ICU and Pediatric units. This position requires strong attention to detail and flexibility as float pool employees do not know which unit they could be placed in on a day to day basis.Wage Range: $21.81 - $29.09 per hourNight Shift Differential: 12.5% of base rateFloat Pool Differential: $1 per hourFunction/Duties of Position$3,000 hiring bonus for full-time positions. Must begin work by June 30, 2025 to qualify.

• Assist with the admitting and discharge
• Obtain accurate vital signs and weight
• Complete all unit specific CNA documentation in the patientxe2x80x99s medical record related to: admissions, daily care, vital signs, weight, intake and output, discharge, etc.
• Assist the patient with any and all basic hygiene, lifting, transport, dietary support, and other personal needs and medical necessities
• Support patient and family centered care
• Report potential compliance problems as outlined in the Code of Conduct
• Model ethical and appropriate behavior, professional standards, compliance, and personal integrity
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation

Float Pool positions available:

• Day Shift - 3 0.9FTE
• Night Shift - 2 0.9FTE

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Oregon CNA1 Certification at time of hire
• BLS required at time of hire, issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of previous hospital CNA experience
