Job Description

SJS Executives, LLC (SJS) of Virginia Beach, a diverse, small and veteran-owned military/federal contractor with about 150 employees in 15 states, is seeking a full-time Certified Safety Specialist to join and support the activities of the Safety & Security Department.

Saturdays or a late evening shift might happen on a rare occasion if there are safety alerts or special circumstances that might affect a tight deadline, but the goal is a steady and reliable Monday through Friday 40-hour workweek to avoid weekend, night-time and overtime work.

The ideal person for this position will have prior experience working in a safety department for an organization with 50 or more employees; be comfortable working at a consistently fast pace every week without compromising quality; possess a drive for learning new skills; be deadline driven, proactive and have a responsive attitude; and possess a certified safety credential.

He or she will assist the Safety & Security division with safety, safety administrative related tasks and will need to successfully learn how to use an industrial respirator correctly to be able to teach others how to do the same.

Reliable attendance and punctuality is paramount for this position.

Responsibilities include:

• Conduct periodic safety checks in accordance with OSHA checklists; assist with completion of OSHA 300/300A forms and filings
• Support the facility with all aspects of the safety and security program, including the safety, security and facilities maintenance.
• Office porterage as required, including assisting with office moves, furniture moves, deliveries and pickups of large packages
• Assemble, arrange and install furniture, fixtures and fittings; inspect, log and report on technical defects observed in furniture, fixtures and fittings; execute minor repairs or coordinate with service providers to execute repairs
• Coordinate parking availability, issuance of security passes and the booking in and booking out of visitors and clients; escort visitors on the property when necessary
• Carry out risk assessments on a monthly basis or as required
• Assist with respirator fit tests for the company\xe2\x80\x99s industrial division; this includes maintaining organized testing records
• Prepare, print, bind and archive Security Department company documents and reports (both paper and electronic)
• Provide support and cover on security details when necessary.
• Other security, safety or facility related tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Company officers.

Qualifications:

• Certified Safety Professional credential Required.
• Experience with OSHA and OSHA Audits are Required.
• Veteran hiring preference, but all applicants are welcome!
• 1 to 2 years of previous experience working in a security department and a facilities maintenance department at an organization with 50 or more employees
• Clean driving record and ability to safely operate a company vehicle
• Current and valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
• Ability to both work independently and as a part of a team
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, MS SharePoint, MS Teams, MS Calendar) and Adobe Acrobat Pro/DC for editing PDF files
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, cooperation and organizational skills
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and spend up to 8 hours per day walking and performing physical activity
• Must be able to successfully pass a drug test, a driving record check and a background check.
