Director, Software Engineer in Test

We are looking for a highly motivated, software engineer in test leader, who can support the Engineering Excellence Chapter\xe2\x80\x99s Vision to: Diligently improve the delivery VELOCITY and the QUALITY of PI\xe2\x80\x99s digital & associate products. The outcome of this role will elevate the efficiency and speed at which Fidelity not only delivers stable products but delivers quality to our customers.

The Role

Fidelity Investments is seeking a Director of Software Engineer in Test, who has a blend of deep software engineering and software testing experience and also holds a passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing associates to their fullest potential. The role will drive engineering strategy across multiple product teams in order to increase the velocity of delivery while growing the quality of the customer product.

In addition, the role will have a team of direct associates numbering 10 \xe2\x80\x93 15 and dotted lined reporting with team members in India and / or China. The technical area of expertise required is broad and includes supporting applications ranging in the following: front end customer facing, mobile and web based, content, communication, vendor supported, and data analytics platforms. The delivery environment is an agile structure, where you will directly lead a team of software engineers in test who report to you but work day-to-day within autonomous product delivery teams.

The Expertise You Have

  • Demonstrated experience implementing UI, API and / or Mobile based test solutions
  • Leader who serves and is committed to developing engineers to the next level
  • Strong experience with software engineering practices and building out testing strategies at multi team levels
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills with which to build and maintain strong partnerships and relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining data quality frameworks
  • Knowledgeable with end-to-end DevOps automation with CI and CD pipelines including unit, component, functional, performance, and security test automation
  • Expertise in using mock frameworks and service virtualization
  • Good knowledge of resiliency software engineering and observability patterns
  • Certifications in, or working experience with, AWS/Azure
  • Experience leading, coaching, mentoring, and developing people and teams
  • Validated expertise around hiring and identifying top engineering talent
The Team

The Engineering Excellence (EE) chapter resides in the Personal Investment (PI) business unit of Fidelity Investments. The chapter consists of over 260 multi-stacked engineers with a passion around customer experience and with the engineering tool set to seek challenges including: Automated testing, performance testing, chaos testing, application cloud migration and management, CI / CD implementation, security testing and application development. The chapter\xe2\x80\x99s support spans across all of PI and provides domain specialists to squads who develop products with the highest customer quality, security, stability, and experience. This role will directly support the Fidelity Investments Life Insurance (FILI) product area within PI. The supported applications include but are not limited to web-based applications, API based applications, and cloud-based solutions.
