We offer a range of choices to give employees flexibility in building a customized benefits package that meets their needs.The Charter Captain for Anchorage & Prince William Sound region will perform traditional marine charter and transport services as required. This includes master in charge of safe operations for the vessel and safety of the crew and passengers. The position is required to follow all company procedures and USCG maritime / OSHA / State and Federal rules and regulations.Responsibilities

  • Perform marine based operations and completes assigned tasks within company policy and the legal requirements of USCG and other regulatory agencies including close quarter handling and anchoring.
  • Captain a 46\xe2\x80\x99 catamaran landing craft with freight operations, beach landings, crane usage, and aquatic gear rigging.
  • Guide and captain, a variety of small vessel marine based excursion types including staff transport, paid passenger transport, and various charters including blue water fishing.
  • Safe navigation in near coastal waters using GPS, plotter, radar, and sonar.
  • Supervise and assist in daily maintenance: cleaning, sewage and fuel pumping, restocking. Coordinate and assist with routine maintenance; painting, changing oil, etc.
  • Supervise passenger boarding/offboarding, safety orientation/demonstration, and emergency response.
  • Plan and execute emergency drills, equipment checks and safety meetings in accordance with U.S. Coast Guard regulations and Chenega policy.
  • Maintain all navigational equipment in good working order; keep logs and ship/company documents, as directed. Provide daily operations report to office.
  • Maintain current documentation and participate in meetings, trainings, drills, and safety audits as required by USCG and company policy.
  • Participate in and/or lead shore-based activities and projects as required.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years similar experience, charter captain experience preferred
  • Minimum USCG 25-ton Master Near Coastal license required; 50-ton to 100-ton preferred; General Radiotelephone Operators License preferred
  • Winter marine experience in Prince William Sound, Resurrection Bay, Southeast Alaska, or similar Alaskan environment
  • Charter experience in deep sea fishing deeply preferred but not required
  • Marine buoy and anchor rigging experience is preferred
  • Ability to complete pre-employment drug test and participate in random drug and alcohol testing program
  • Ability to keep and maintain a current DOT medical card and yearly Fit for Duty Exams
  • Ability to lift from floor to waist, push and pull up to 50lbs occasionally up to 12 times per shift
  • Must be able to withstand the following for up to 12 hours per day in all weather conditions (sun, rain, sleet, and snow): stand, sit, walk, push, pull, squat, crouch, bend, stoop, crawl, kneel, climb stairs and ladders, repetitive reaching, and repetitive band use
  • Must have a valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and meet driver requirements
