Our client, nonprofit organization headquartered in the Research Triangle Park, is looking for a chemist to join the team.
Responsibilities:
Understand and adhere to laboratory safety requirements.
Communicate effectively and immediately with project managers, task managers, and co-workers to ensure that task assignments are understood so delays or problems are addressed in an efficient manner to meet critical project deadlines.
Perform instrument standardization and calibrations, review results, identify failures per SOP guidance, and flag samples for repeat analyses in a high throughput environment.
Organize large volume of samples for storage and retrieval in secured locations.
Apply and interpret standard chemistry, scientific or engineering theories, concepts, and techniques.
Perform record keeping and document daily quality checks, instrument performance parameters, methods, instrument maintenance etc. as required by each project.
Follow Standard Operating Procedures, and Analytical Methods required to prepare samples and standards for analysis.
Follow comprehensive workplans and worksheets that document critical steps for preparation, analysis, and adherence to QA plan.
Operate a variety of general laboratory equipment required for preparation of samples and standards prior to analysis.
Perform various laboratory instrument analyses as required by assigned projects, these could include Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectroscopy/Mass Spectrometry (ICP-OES/MS), Ion Chromatography (IC), and others.
Understand and follow data quality and documentation practices when working in non-regulated, regulated, and GXP environments and participate in external and internal audits as needed.
Follow environmental health and safety guidelines to properly dispose of samples and waste as required.
Provide feedback that may improve safety, sample handling processes, analytical methods, and sample flow through the laboratory.
Contribute to data and research reports.
Education Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Chemistry or a related science
