Basic Function

HF Sinclair Woods Cross Refining LLC, located in West Bountiful, Utah. is seeking a Chief Designer Drafter. This position conducts design assignments for various departments under minimum supervision. Acts as the liaison between engineers and designers and keeps management apprised of any problems that could potentially affect the outcome of design projects in a negative or positive manner.

Job Duties

(functions considered essential as defined by ADA)

• Consults with engineers in the design stage, allocates layout, detail and design drafting phases to contract staff and prepares layout diagrams to ensure accurate interpretation of designs by workers supervised
• Serves as pipeline and terminal resource for all drawings, foreign prints and contractor data and maintains reference data, drawings and drawing systems.
• Recommends design changes to manager and/or engineers
• Works with manager and Engineers to obtain project information and ensure drawings are accurate and complete
• Acts as liaison between engineers, designers and drafters, and keeps management apprised of any problems that could potentially affect the outcome of design projects in a negative or positive manner
• Manages department costs and workflow, including deadline commitments
• Develops CAD standards
• Performs design and drafting assignments related to pipelines and terminals
• Oversees engineering and design of Instrumentation and Electrical Systems
• Complies with HEP Equity Standards and Policy for pipeline and terminal design including piping, mechanical equipment instrumentation and electrical equipment, civil and structural
• Works with document management group to maintain revision control and maintains My Docs drawings files including addition of new project drawings
• Leads the work of others as needed

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their manager, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

Experience

A minimum of 7 years of on-the-job experience is required.

Education Level

A minimum of a Bachelor\'s Degree, or an equivalent combination of education (in a technical related field) and work experience, is required.

Required Skills

Proficient with AutoCad 2020 and Cadworx 2020, including Cadworx Plant Performance and Cadworx P&ID. Good judgmentand decision-making skills. Advanced knowledge of mid-stream systems and ability to apply this knowledge. Strong knowledge of electrical practices and instrumentation and instrument loop diagrams. Current knowledge of industry standards and governmental requirements and special training related to Drafting & Design. Ability to train, develop and mentor designers and drafters of all levels. Ability to effectively communicate with others, both verbal and written communication, ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Intermediate reading and writing skills.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility

May be required to interface with contractors from time to time depending on the job requirements.

Work Conditions

Indoor and field based with up to 10% travel by land and air required. Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment, out-of-door including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment. Subject to varying road and weather conditions. Subject to all temperatures, varying weather and road conditions.
