:The CPS Initial Assessment Social Worker is a valuable position within the Human Services Department that provides services to referred children and families suspected of child abuse and/or neglect. The ideal applicant will have strong skills in engagement and family assessment, as well as being able to build rapport and compassion for the families that are being served. This position will require knowledge and understanding of trauma informed care principles.Interviews clients, collaterals, resource people, and referral sources.Observes home conditions and completes safety assessments. Creates a safety plan when necessary.Determines whether or not to remove the child from the home. If the decision is to remove the child from the home, determine appropriate care for child.Requirements:A Bachelor's degree in social work and certification by the State of Wisconsin as a Social Worker. Certification must be obtained within six months from the date of hire.
