Job Snapshot:

Organization / People

  • Supervise staff (technicians and professionals) working on large construction material testing (CMT) and geotechnical projects for Energy clients in Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama and Mississippi
  • Coordinate with CMT and geotechnical Operations Managers and their junior/senior staff to train, mentor, and coach employees
  • Collaborate regularly with internal Energy client managers regarding scheduling and staffing of direct reports on ongoing and future Energy CMT and geotechnical projects
  • Oversee and monitor overall staff assignments and workload ensuring that the team has the right mix of experience and certifications for the market, and to meet the client\'s needs
  • Prepare annual performance goals for direct reports, which include utilization, quality, safety, knowledge, and financial goals; and conduct quarterly performance reviews of direct reports
  • Coordinate monthly with the Office Principal regarding key metrics of the group, including revenue growth, staff chargeability, project billing and collections, and project profitability
  • Coordinate daily with Energy Services Client Manager to align staff for immediate, and long-term resource allocation, project status updates, and backlog input
Project Management
  • Prepare proposals and manage large CMT and geotechnical projects for Energy clients;
  • Communicate daily/weekly with field staff to obtain field reports for preparation of daily/weekly field reports.
  • Prepare project deliverables and manage monthly billing and accounts receivables;
  • Travel to projects that may be located in Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama or Mississippi
  • Participate in business development activities and partner with other business units to identify, develop, win, and execute project opportunities and build and maintain client relationships
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Professional Engineering license
  • 15+ years of experience in Operational and/or Project Management experience within the construction industry, preferably with Energy clients
  • Demonstrated successful team leadership and management with a good understanding of safety policies/procedures, quality, business metrics, human resources policies/procedures, risk management concepts
