The Department of Occupational Therapy in the College of Health (COH), Kasiska Division of Health Sciences (KDHS) at Idaho State University is seeking an innovative and dynamic faculty member to join our collaborative and entrepreneurial community. The Occupational Therapy Program recently celebrated its 20th anniversary and is transitioning to a newly created Department of Occupational Therapy. The program has two locations in the state of Idaho and plans to transition to an OTD program in the future.

Idaho State University is designated as the health care university for the state of Idaho and offers 75% of the state\'s health profession degrees. The COH has 12 departments and 4 programs with 18 associated health care clinics. Faculty enjoy close collaborative relationships with access to a diverse body of colleagues committed to inter-professional scholarship, teaching and service. The COH through it\'s associated clinics and rural health mission serves a diverse population including the indigenous peoples of Idaho.

The COH is partnering with colleges across the university to establish an innovation culture that supports faculty and student exploration of new ideas, technology, and projects. We are seeking entrepreneurial faculty who are committed to engaging in a culture of innovation and design. Opportunities exist to work across disciplines and to develop intellectual property.

The occupational therapy department is currently seeking a clinical assistant professor to be based on either our Pocatello, Idaho campus or our Meridian, Idaho campus. Candidates with terminal degrees may negotiate for a tenure-track position. Key responsibilities include:

  • Teaching in area of expertise and department needs as assigned (60-80%)
  • Research portfolio development and study mentoring in support of program priorities (5-15%)
  • Service in support of the program, college, university, and profession (10-15%)
  • Clinical support in service of program priorities and faculty development (0-20%)
Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in occupational therapy, or entry-level degree in occupational therapy and doctoral level degree in a related field
  • Current license to practice OT in the state of Idaho or ability to obtain OT licensure in the state of Idaho
  • Current NBCOT Certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • AOTA membership
  • Clinical experience in physical functioning, neurological functioning, or environmental management or experience that would serve as preparation to teach in foundational courses
  • Advanced certifications related to the practice of occupational therapy
  • Teaching experience, including experience as a fieldwork educator or in higher education within an OT or OTA program
  • Understanding of curriculum design
  • Experience with the accreditation process
  • Experience with distance technology to support classroom instruction
  • Research experience, such as identification of a research area of interest, experience completing a research project, and mentoring student research projects
  • Commitment to fostering a respectful and inclusive environment
